Nine hours and forty seven minutes later, we land in Boston. Although it's almost midnight, Chris still gets as much attention as he did in back in the UK. It takes us a bit of time to get out of the airport, but when we eventually do, his mum is waiting for us at the front of the airport, with Dodger. Oh I've missed Dodger. He gets excited when he sees Chris, his tail wagging like mad.
"Hey there, bubba! Did you miss me!? Did ya!?" His mum let's go of the lead and Dodger runs at him. He laughs and bends down, fussing him. Lisa smiles and walks over, then immediately gives me a hug.
"It's lovely to see you again!" She beams excitedly.
"Yeah, you too!" She smiles as she pulls away.
"I'm so glad you two made up. He was such a wreck without you. I've never seen him so bad before."
"Yes, yes, we've gathered that already mom." Chris murmurs, standing up. I laugh softly and blush. "Thanks for coming to pick us up." I bend down and fuss Dodger, as Chris hugs Lisa.
"Oh that's alright. Anytime. Are you both ready to head off then?" I rise to my feet and nod with Chris, so we start following Lisa to her car. "How was your flight?"
"It was okay, yeah. Went pretty quickly, actually." He replies, hand intertwined in mine. He glances over at me with a wide smile, making my stomach do flips.
"Ah, that's good then."
"Oh, and can we pop to the store on the way? Meg forgot her toothbrush." He asks with a giggle and I flush. Lisa laughs.
"Yes, of course." After we buy a toothbrush for me at one of the twenty four hour stores, Lisa takes us back to Chris's house. It's roughly three quarters of an hour drive and I'm really drained, but my eyes open wide when I see the house Lisa has parked in front of. Holy fuck. We all hop out of the car and Lisa helps us with our bags, but I struggle to peel my eyes away from the house. It's pretty big - must be four or five bedrooms. It's honestly stunning. It's a proper big family suburban home. I'm in awe.
"Thanks for picking us up, ma. We'll come see you once Meg has settled in."
"Of course, yeah, no problem. Take care." He nods and gives her a hug. I then give her a hug and thank her too, before Chris shows me inside.
"So, yeah— this is home—" He says, as we wander into the spacious entrance hall. He shuts the door behind us, and my eyes wander, taking it all in.
"Whoa... Chris, it's... it's beautiful..." I say in awe and he smiles widely.
"Yeah? You like it?" I smile and nod, letting out a deep breath.
"I love it." His smile widens and he snakes his arms around me from behind.
"Be able to see it as home?" He questions, and I let out a small laugh, grinning.
"Absolutely."
"Good." He chirps, kissing me cheek. "Have you let your mom know you're here?" He asks curiously and I nod.
"Yeaaah, I text her when you w-went to the loo at the airport."
"Ah, good." I nod again and he smiles warmly, gazing at me in awe. "We should get some sleep. You look really tired. I'll give you a tour in the morning."
"Yeah, that's probably a good idea. I'm p-pooped." He laughs softly.
"Say no more! Off to bed we go." He detaches himself from me, but takes my hand and takes me to the master bedroom with en-suite. My eyes widen at the surroundings. There's big windows from floor to ceiling on the one wall, with a stunning view of the garden. Whoa. This is crazy. I get some clean underwear out of my backpack and steal one of Chris's t-shirts. After I put them on, I clean my teeth and then crawl into the humongous king-size bed with him. Then Dodger hops up. Chris slumps an arm over me, as we lie facing each other, having a stare-off and smiling like idiots. "I'm so glad that you're here. I'm so happy."
