"Say that again?"

His voice matches the heavy morning fog surrounding my body. As I lift my chin, my line of sight automatically shifted towards a pair of coal black eyes. It was a deep gaze which never fails to make my mind blank.

I'm doomed.

Since when had he arrived behind me? How can I not sense his strong presence?

"You're on your own, bitch."

"See yah, Miss Sangria! Mauna na kami!"

"Good luck, cuz!"

I silently cursed when they left me alone with their Captain. Now I know why they reacted that way. Fabio, you sly jerk. He deliberately led me in this trap so they could escape the dragon.

What choice do I have other than to smile and feign ignorance?

Wait...why would I? There's no point in doing that since he already heard me, right?

With that thought, the corners of my mouth lifted into a playful grin. "Good morning, Captain! Where have you been last night? We all missed you, lalo na ako---"

Naputol ang sinasabi ko nang bigla niyang pinitik ang noo ko. I expected to feel pain but surprisingly, it didn't even hurt.

What was that for?

"Nonsense. Go and do laps around the house. You will join the training."

My ears perked up when I heard the word training. Nais kong sumali at obserbahan ang pag-eensayo nila. I immediately nodded with a serious expression. "I'll do my best to catch up!"

"I know." He ruffled my already messy hair. Hinayaan ko na lamang siyang guluhin ang buhok ko at binalik ang kanyang tingin ng may ngiti sa aking mukha.

You see, I'm a very patient lady.

He lightly pushed my head down. "Alright, stop dallying and train. That is, if you want to join later for the investigation."

"Yes, I'll train now!"

Sumali ako sa training ng elites hanggang sa tuluyan nang sumikat ang araw. I followed their intense work-out routine and did a various set of exercises. As for Captain, he only stayed for at least 10 minutes before he left again. Someone contacted him from the headquarters, I think? Masyadong busy.

Pinahid ko ang pawis sa aking noo habang inaalala ang kanyang mga sinabi. Bago kasi siya umalis ay sinabi niya sa amin na magkakaroon ng meeting mamayang hapon tungkol sa mga nangyari noong araw na inatake kami ng halimaw. I can't help but to think about it and despite our intense work-out, my mind can't seem to focus at the present.

"Finally! The stretching is done! Yo, Adam. Let's fight!"

"You stink. Get away from me."

"Pahinga muna. Let's eat breakfast!"

"No, let's duel!"

Bumalik ang atensyon ko sa kasalukuyan nang marinig ang kanilang mga boses. Hinabol ko ang aking hininga at inabot ang water bottle mula kay Fabio.

"That was your stretching?" I asked, still exhausted. Dumako ang tingin ko kay Eldian na hinahamon pa si Adam na makipaglaban. He's always brimming with endless energy.

"Yup." He shrugged, panting lightly.

"Hindi ba tayo papasok? Miss Bella might get mad."

"You are excused until tomorrow, love. That's all you need to know."
