Bloody 19: Opening Ceremony

Roen Astrid.

"Are you ready sweetie?"

"Yes mom! Where's dad by the way?"

"Oh, your dad is already waiting for us in the car. We must go before I forget my speech!"

I remained silent as I listened to the affectionate talk between the mother-daughter duo. I can clearly hear the clicking noise coming from their heels.

As a female guard, I'm wearing a formal black pantsuit with a high collar white shirt inside and a pair of flat black shoes. My hair was already tied into a low bun and Claire purposely left some strands that fell at the sides of my face.

It's the first day of classes at Dallas Academy.

It has been a tradition of the royal family to attend every year's opening ceremony. There would be a game among the students.

"Sangria failed though. She's so yabang kasi!"

"It's alright, Sangria. It's sad that you didn't pass but don't worry, I will pull some strings to make you an official Dallas student."

"Thank you so much, Empre--"

"Hah! You will enter the academy to serve me! You must follow my orders! Lily interrupted as she turned to gawk at me.

"This attention-seeker guard destroyed the whole entrance test! The Genesis left so early and the stupid old teachers became the test bosses instead! I felt so embarrassed!" Lily gnashed her teeth as she wailed at her mother.

"That's enough sweetie. I'm sure Sangria's already aware of her duties as a servant of the royal family. She will guard and protect you throughout the school year." Lucy uttered sweetly as she touched her insolent daughter's hand. Nginitian ako ni Lucy at nauna na silang lumabas habang magkahawak kamay. Disgust suddenly filled inside of me. Servant eh?

"Thank you so much, Empress. I appreciate your kindness but you needn't worry. I was already accepted as an official student of Dallas Academy." I spoke clearly, my voice echoing in the entire hall. I saw how the two stopped abruptly with what I've said.

My lips curled up into a sly smile, even the guards who are currently opening the huge double doors stopped moving. The guards glanced at me, shock visible in their eyes. I quickly changed my expression into an innocent smile, making them blush.

The sunlight coming from the half-opened doors brightened the entire hall. The warm yellow light shone radiantly, hitting my bare face.

"W-what do you mean, Sangria?" I bit my tongue to suppress my laughter. Stupid fools.
