So, it's my birthday and Natalia made a card for me, Nathan sang for me and it was the best way to start a morning. Nikki was on her way back from a work trip. It was weird. I felt like a house husband but with an actual job. I took the kids to the school bus as usual giving them both a hug. It was nice to see that they were doing good with school and adapting well too. "Bye Daddy", they said while waving as the school bus left the driveway. Even though we did it every day, it still felt different each time.

"Good morning Sir. You need to wear this before entering the office", Leo said making me furrow my brows. "What is Zahra up to now", I whined. It was too early for such things and I had a lot on my plate but I don't think my sister knew that. Leo smiled handing over the damn thing. I walked to my door and put it on before getting into the office. "Zahra, get it over with, I am very busy today", I said but there was no reply, I heard footsteps approaching me then locked the door behind me. What was going on? They took my laptop bag away. "You can take it off now birthday boy", fuck! it's was Nikki. "Good morning mother, what seems to be the problem", I asked calmly. She threw an envelope in my face and when I took out the papers, it was the adoption papers. Fuck! Leo wrote the wrong address. "I was going to tell you", I tried to explain knowing that it was going to be a long shot. "Before or after you marry her? Is she going to change her religion? And the kids? Did you think any of this through?", she asked and at that point, I couldn't help but feel guilty. I should have told her before proposing, I should have told her before adopting the kids. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you before making these decisions mother. But I love Nikki and this is what I want", I answered but she remained still. "Answer my questions Abdul", she said calmly, which could only mean one thing. She was super angry. 

"She's not changing her religion, we are having a court wedding as for the kids, we are going to let them decide when they grow up, but for now they will stay the same", I finished and she started trembling. She walked out in a hurry and when I followed her, I found Leo trying to pull Inaya off someone. She was choking the person when I got closer I saw it was Nikki. I went to pull her away. Nikki was practically naked, I was glad that my office floor only had me and Leo. I lifted her to see that she had a red eye with a bruise next to her eyebrow no doubt Inaya scratched her with a nail. What the hell happened, my sister was never violent. Nikki must have said something to her. This was getting out of hand and I don't know what to do. I want Nikki, there is no doubt about it but I also want to have a relationship with my mother and sister. Why do I have to choose? Why does it have to be my mother or Nikki? Fuck!
