Chapter XVIII

It had been a while since I hang out with Zahra so I decide to call her and she agreed to meet me at a hotel where she was staying at. "Why are you guys not at your house?", "We're renovating", they said at the same time which made me suspicious. "Well, I'll leave you guys to your lady's time, I have to meet up with Abdul and his friend at the bar", Aziz said then kissed her goodbye. 

There was something wrong with her, she was not her usual bubbly self and I had to find out what was wrong with her. "Zahra, there is no renovation happening is there? You're hiding something, what is it? I won't tell anyone, you know this", I said reaching for her hand. She swallowed hard, she was trying to avoid it. I know because she used to do the same when we were younger. "Zahra", I called her again making her eyes meet mine. "Ok fine, but you have to promise not to tell anyone. Not even Abdul", now I was even more worried. "Ok, I promise", "Aziz and I have been trying to get pregnant and nothing has been happening, we have tried everything and I just can't get pregnant. It's been stressing me out and yesterday, Inaya announced that she was pregnant and I just lost it so, to avoid being suspicious we came here to stay for a while. Just to get away from it all", she was full-on sobbing at this point, I sat closer, pulling her in for a hug. "Hey, everything's going to be ok. Have you guys been to the doctor's", "I'm scared Nikki, I'm scared of what they'll tell me. Aziz loves kids and it's all we ever talked about. What if they say I can't get pregnant? I can't lose him Nikki", she said crying even harder. "Is there anything abnormal about your period?", "No... why?", "Then you're fine, I read somewhere that it could be the first sign but we can't know for sure unless we see a doctor. We could go just you and I and tell Aziz after, what do you say?", I suggested knowing that she won't say no to me, besides we could use my doctor for it. "Nikki, I'm scared", "I know and that is why we'll do this without Aziz knowing, at least until we get the results, it will be like old times, watcha say?", I wiggled my brows at her making her laugh. It was nice to see her less tense. "Let's book an appointment with my doctor", I said taking my phone out. Two seconds later we had an appointment.

"I'm so nervous", "Hey, don't worry about it", I encouraged her holding her hand in mine. "Ok, so there's nothing out of the ordinary but I suggest you take these supplements to boost your hormones, make you more fertile and please... please relax. Take a vacation if you see fit but relax Zahra, as much as getting a child is more in god's hands, it also requires you to be in the right state of mind", the doctor said with a smile on his face. "And what about you? Ready for round two yet?", "Oh no, I'm good thank you", I said a bit faster than he expected, and we both burst out laughing. 

"Are you going to tell Aziz?", I asked because she looked excited now, the complete opposite of when we entered the hospital. "Yes, I will as soon as I see him. Thank you for this", she said hugging me tightly. "Thank me by having sex like a rabbit and making me a baby", I said with a huge smile. "You're crazy Nikki, but I love you and I'm happy you're here", she said when we were in her car. "Where to next?", "Abdul's office, please. I'm his driver until my work leave is over", I said making her smile. "He's different you know. Way happier. You're good for him", "I wish I was good for his friends too, Khaled hates me so much, he can't even pretend to like me when I meet him", I said recalling the day we went out together. "Hey, don't mind him, he is always moody and full of himself. What about Greyson?", "Oh! he is an angel, even Renee too", "Then no need to worry, Abdul, listens to Greyson more than rich boy anyways so you're good. If I were you I would ignore him", she said focusing on the road. Maybe she was right, why would I not go out with my boyfriend because of one person that is not even his sibling? I was going to take Zahra's advice.

"Hello Leo, is he in?", I greeted his assistant as I stepped out of the elevator. His face lit up, and I was happy to see he liked me. "He is finishing up a meeting but you can go in if you like", he said with excitement which made me smile. "Ok, Thank you Leo", I said walking in. 

"I will be expecting the event budget as soon as possible because we need the marketing team to start branding before month end", he instructed whoever was on the other side of the virtual call and there was a series of, 'Understood' and 'Yes sir'. I walked in, sitting on one of the visitor chairs watching him silently. He looked at me and smiled. "Ok team, you have a good evening", he said then closed his laptop. "Babe... welcome", he said standing up from his desk, he walked towards me, and when he was right in front of me, he pulled me up, kissing the hell out of me. It caught me by surprise but I kissed him back with equal passion. "I missed you", "Abdul, we live together", "So?", "How can you miss someone you just saw a couple of hours ago?", "Well, that is none of your business now is it?", he said attacking my neck with kisses making me giggle right when Khaled walked in like he owned the place. "Hey man! I need a drink and a ride", he said just when I turned to see his brows furrowed. "I don't have one sadly", Abdul said with a smile. This was my chance. "I do. I can take you guys to your sanctuary then you'll come back with an Uber", I suggested shrugging my shoulders, "Or you could come with us", Abdul said and we turned to Khaled. "I'm ok with anything that does not involve me driving", ok then. I guess Khaled was in a good mood today.
