I don't get why we spent the whole Saturday looking for my wedding dress. It was a court wedding. No complications, no overdoing things. I just wanted a formal office dress with nice shoes but Abdul had to call in Zahra who was very much pregnant and so ready to pop at any moment and Amira with an excuse that, I needed bonding time before the wedding. I love Zahra and Amira but at this moment, they are making my life miserable and every time I try to ask Abdul to bail me out he says, yes but does nothing.
"Omg! We've got it", Amira said running her fingers across a very beautiful nude dress. It was very beautiful but not something I could wear to court. "I can't wear that to court", I told her. "It's for the photo shoot that will happen after, Abdul didn't tell you?", Zahra said with excitement. "There is a photo shoot?", "Hell yes, every bride needs a photo shoot", Amira replied looking at me like I was supposed to know. I was going to murder someone, even if they had a handsome face. "Hey calm down it will only be for an hour or so no need to fuss about it. We have it under control ok? All you need to do is be ready at 2 pm, we will come to pick you up, ok?", Amira said while pushing me towards the changing area.
When I tried the dress on it fit perfectly. It was a long halter dress with a slit that reached mid-thigh. The less material was sparkling making my skin colour shine amazingly. It made me feel pretty. "What do you think?", I asked the two sisters-in-laws who were busy deciding which hairpiece I should put on. "Oh my!", "He is definitely going to lose his mind", Amira said making me blush. It was no secret that Abdul was a sexual person, especially not to his sisters. They have caught us in the act a dozen times and he didn't even bother covering us up. "Stop it Amira", Zahra said while laughing. "You look amazing sweetie", she said then hugged me.
"You guys had fun?", Abdul asked when the girls dropped me home. "Yes", I said sarcastically making him laugh. "Mama! Aunt Zahra bought me a princess dress for a totoshoot", Natalia said while jumping up and down. "It's called a photoshoot sweetie, I can't wait to see you looking like a princess", I said kissing the top of her head, making her giggle. Nathan ran to me and I hugged him too. "What about you? did you get anything for the photoshoot as well?", "Yes. Right Daddy?", he turned to Abdul who was busy stealing muffins from Lucinda's secret stash. Yes, she had to hide them otherwise the kids will be all over it and we will end up dealing with super energetic kids. "You got that right buddy. Just like James Bond", he said with a wink.
I put Nathan down and proceeded to Claire's room, she was watching some romantic comedy. "Hey you, we haven't had time to catch up in a while. How are you?", I asked sitting next to her. "It's ok, I just spoke to my young sister, telling her the good news", she said with a huge smile. Abdul was helping her sister out with school enrolment and he had just confirmed paying her school fees. "I'm so happy for you Claire", I said hugging her. "I'm grateful to you Nikki, we have come a long way and I am happy that I met you, I'm happy that I accepted this job. It's the best thing that has ever happened to me. You're my sister, even though Abdul is the one who did it, I know he wouldn't have done it if it wasn't for you", we were both sobbing at this point.
It was true that Claire had become more than just the nanny to Natalia and Nathan. She is my family, I am thankful that she has been able to blend in perfectly with Abdul's family. I would do anything for her because she is that important to me. I remember the struggle I had when I just asked her to be my nanny. It was tough, Nathan was different and I was scared that she would bail on me every chance she got because it was hard taking care of a child that needed constant supervision. But she stayed, she helped me through it all. She taught Nathan how to use the toilet, she helped him learn how to ride a bike even when he could not control his anger and broke things she didn't shout at him. I, on the other hand, found myself losing control and she had to put me in place a couple of times reminding me that he was not normal like Natalia. She has seen my meltdowns more than anyone in my life.
"Did you find the dress?", she asked, clearly trying to distract me. It worked. "Yes, apparently there is a photoshoot so we ended up getting two dresses", "And that is Zahra to you", she said while laughing. She knows I hate shopping. "Hey Nikki, can I borrow you for a second?", Abdul said from the doorway. "Sure", I followed him to our bedroom. "You were eavesdropping weren't you?", I asked after seeing him trying so hard to avoid my eyes. "Will that be a bad thing? I mean, it is our house", he said stepping closer to me. "You're right about that", I said circling my hands on his waist. "Are you nervous about tomorrow?", he asked making me stretch my neck to see him properly. "I'm more excited than nervous", "Oh really? Does it have anything to do with the fact that you're marrying the most handsome baby daddy or do you just enjoy the attention", he teased making me laugh. "It's both actually", I replied pulling away and then sitting on the bed. I was removing my shoes when he kneeled in front of me and started removing them for me. He started massaging my feet, it made me moan. "Careful babe, I'm saving myself for our honeymoon", he said with a smirk. "There's a honeymoon?", i asked with surprise. "Oh, there is so much more babe. Just relax and let me love you", he said pulling me off the bed. We took a shower and then joined the family for dinner. Grilled sandwiches and fries. A match was made in Lucinda's heaven. "Thank you for dinner Lucinda, it's so delicious", "You are welcome my dear. Ready for tomorrow?", she asked with a smile which I returned. "I'm so ready".
