Abdul's POV

This is a lot harder than I thought. I wish I didn't tell Nikki how I feel but I had to. I couldn't pretend that I didn't want to touch her, be close to her, or kiss her. That kiss. It's all I can think about. I still fantasize about it, it is the best kiss I've had in a long time, five years to be exact. Only she can bring out that side of me. I want her. It has been a month since I decided to give her space would be the right thing to do but, I can't hold back anymore.

I was getting ready to leave work when my office door was opened. I was expecting my secretary but my father walked in instead. "Hello son, do you have a moment?", he said in a tone too calm for my liking. "Hey dad, of course, have a sit", he walked in and sat on one of the sofas. "How's work?", "It's ok. We're expanding and am happy about it", I said with pride. He smiled. "Good". He remained silent but I knew something was troubling him. "So I spoke to Zahra and she told me, she has recently rekindled her friendship with Nikki", he said looking at me in the eyes. I couldn't form words so I settled with a nod. "I see, have you met her yet?", he asked. How could I tell him while I was sure he could read me like a book? He knew how I felt about her, hell, he is the one that introduced us to each other. "Abdul, I know you've been avoiding me ever since that night and I don't hold it against you. All I want you to know is that I stand by you. I know you still love her and I know that she might be hesitant to come back to you if you ask her so I wanted to tell you that I plan to have dinner with her", that got my attention. "She can't, she has kids father, she can't leave them alone, her nanny doesn't live with them so she needs to be home an hour after work", I found myself explaining and the smile on my father's face proved that I just outed myself. "I know, and I have a plan for it, so don't worry", He stood up adjusting his suit, he was about to step out of the office when he turned one last time and what he said to me hit me unexpectedly. "It's nice to see you are warming up to her kids too son, fatherhood looks good on you", then he closed the door. The thought of having kids with Nikki made me feel grown and selfless. Honestly, Natalia and Nathan are cute kids and I didn't have a problem with what father said, they were part of Nikki and if she gives me a second chance, I'm willing to look after her and the kids, which includes keeping mother away from them too. Going against her was the last thing on my mind and it was considered disrespectful but following her rules have only made me more broken than happy. She was never going to change which left me with only one option, I had to change instead. I had to pick a side and I know exactly where I want to be.

"So you're saying that this girl is like your teenage love? Now that is what we call fate right there", Greyson said while taking a shot of vodka. Yes, I had to tell my closest friends. "What does she do now?", Khaled asked. "She is a maintenance manager at the central shopping mall". "At least she has a job", Greyson added but Khaled didn't seem to buy it. I could tell he didn't like Nikki. He hadn't even met her and he was already hating. I don't blame him though, he had his fair share of heartbreaks from girlfriends to wives. Yes, he was under forty and already had two divorces, ugly ones so I was not about to judge his behaviour or comments toward relationships. "Let me get this straight. She's a maintenance manager at a mall, her pay grade is not above a thousand dollars that's for sure, she has twins and lives in a two-bedroom apartment block with over thirty tenants. I don't know about you, but from my experience having a woman like that means more expenses for you. She needs a man to please her and a father for her kids. Is she worth it?", Khaled asked looking like someone who was trying his hardest not to say a wrong word. "What are you saying Khaled because we both know I don't have a problem spending money on a woman", I needed honesty and these were the only ones who have managed to put me in line countless times. "I think she's in it for the money. I mean you're loaded and if you get into a relationship with her you will be the one with more to lose than her besides, is your mother going to approve?", Fuck! That was a tough one to answer. "I don't care what she thinks. I want her", "Woah! You'll go against your mother for her? are you sure?", Khaled always went for it. I nod my head finishing the whiskey that was in my glass.

"Does it feel right? being with her?", Greyson asked and I remembered our kiss, and how her hands fit in mine. I smiled at the thought, "Sure does. I can be myself around her, I see myself being her man and I don't mind being the father to her kids", the last bit made Khaled choke on his drink. "You serious right now?", he asked. "Yes I am", "I have a bad feeling about this but I trust you. Now when do we get to meet her?", Khaled asked. "Good question", Greyson said raising his glass. "I don't know I guess I could arrange something that can involve the kids too if that's ok with you", I asked Greyson since he was the one with a kid. "We have Angel's birthday party coming up. Bring them over", Greyson said making me smile. He was always positive and I had a feeling, he and Nikki were going to get along just fine. Khaled on the other hand, not so much. "Man! I hate kids", Khaled said making us laugh because as much as he hated kids, they always seem to like him. Now to the most difficult part. Asking Nikki to be my plus one. I had no idea how I was going to do that considering how we left things the last time.
