[Chapter Ten]
If anyone told me that having a soulmate would hurt this badly, then I would have never tried to meet her. If anyone told me that she would be so smart, but so incredibly stupid at the same time, I would have passed over it. I would have skipped having a soulmate.
It hurt so bad. Just to see her laying there, almost lifeless, connected to tubes and wires, made my heart physically hurt. I wanted nothing more than to just take her place, take her pain away, and be the one laying there instead.
Her hands were cold. Not icy cold, but cold. Her body was littered with scars, reminders of the stupid actions she took. However, her eyes were closed peacefully, her face relaxed, and her body slack. Her heart beat at a steady pace, her vitals normal.
I could tell she had lost some weight. I didn't know what I expected though, she was getting her nutrition through a tube that went up her nose and into her stomach, and the IV on the inside of her arm. I doubt she would have any strength when she woke up. If she ever did.
I took my glove off and laid it across my lap. I reached up and brushed some of her hair away from her face. I was waiting for her to open her eyes and smile at me, tease me for being so soft around her, anything. But her eyes remained closed, and the room stayed silent.
I stood up, exhaling softly as I looked down at her. I placed my hand on the side of her face.
"Come on stupid," I whispered, leaning down to press my lips to her forehead. "Just wake up already."
"Katsuki?"
I jumped at the sound of my name. I whipped around, immediately raising my hand, hovering the other one over Y/n. When I saw her mother standing there, I felt my shoulders relax. A smile spread across her face.
"We've been so worried," She said, pulling me into an embrace. "I was hoping you would come to see her soon."
"I'm sorry," I said, not quite sure why I was apologizing. "I've been...busy."
"I can only imagine," She said, pulling away from me. She reached up and began to fix parts of my suit that were slightly out of place. "How are you and Deku doing?"
"We're fine," I muttered.
"I know that Y/n sent you to go find Hanna and the others," She said, brushing my shoulders off.
"She sent us a video memo. It was prerecorded," I replied.
"Sounds like her," Her mother sighed, turning to look down at her. "Y/n always thinks ahead of everything. We used to joke that she could see into the future. But she was just always prepared. She thought of everything ahead of time."
