[Chapter Thirty-Three]

"What?"

I stared at Endeavor, my eyebrows lacing together. Aizawa stood on one side of him, All Might on the other. My heart raced against my chest.

"The decision has been finalized. You are not permitted to participate in this mission," Endeavor stated.

"What the hell kind of decision is that?!" I exclaimed, jumping out of my chair.

"You did an excellent job against Kimina last week," Aizawa said. "Don't get us wrong about that."

"But you haven't even been cleared to return to hero work, Y/n," All Might added.

"Then send me to a damn doctor so I can be cleared!" I said. "I'm perfectly fine!"

"You've been out of the field for over a year," Endeavor said. "You've hardly given yourself enough time to regain your strength. Having you along would just make you a liability."

"A liability?" I scoffed. "Without me, you wouldn't be where you fucking are!"

"Y/n," Aizawa frowned. "Calm down. You won't be left out of the loop completely. Letting you fight alongside your classmates would just be sending you back to where you were before."

I grit my teeth together. This wasn't fair! I'm the one who gave them all the damn information they needed! I'm the one who decoded Hawks' message and found out where the doctor was! I gave them everything they needed, and they weren't even going to let me help them.

"I know you're frustrated," All Might said. "But this is the best option for you, Y/n. We would be putting you in danger—"

"And you're not putting my friends in danger by sending them out?" I snapped, jerking away when All Might laid his hand on my shoulder. "Putting them directly along the front lines isn't risking their lives? You just don't want to send me out because you don't want my quirk lost."

All of them seemed taken aback. Aizawa frowned at me. "That's not—"

"Then let me go."

"You can stop throwing your little tantrum," Endeavor said, brushing past me. "You are not going. That's final. You disobey me like you did the last time, and I promise you, you'll never be involved in another mission ever again."

Aizawa and All Might didn't meet my gaze as they walked past me, leaving me alone in my lab. I tightened my jaw, my eyes narrowing into a fierce glare. I balled my hands into fists at my side to prevent them from trembling.

I poured everything into pushing myself forward. I spent months creating a mechanism that would give me the ability to walk again so that I could return to being a hero. I took dozens of medications to keep my body functioning correctly. I spent countless hours in a psychiatric room spilling my fears and worries to a complete stranger to keep them from overtaking my thoughts. Instead of spending time with my family and friends, I used my hours in this lab to attempt to figure out the answers that no one else could figure out.
