[Chapter Fourty-Four]
The portal that had formed at the tips of my father's fingers didn't last for very long. It was no bigger than a baseball and had disappeared within a few seconds. I could see his eyes had widened, his lips parted as he stared at his hand. His eyebrows laced together with confusion, and he turned towards me, questions swirling behind his eyes.
"Y/n?" He called softly. "What...What was that?"
My lips parted to speak, but no words came out. I had nothing to tell him. I had no explanation. Did he possess this quirk as well? I know that my father had originally gotten the quirk from Mila, but he never showed any type of ability to possess it. Was it forced out of him, like it had been me?
But, before I could think any more of it, we were quickly surrounded by the police force and other heroes. Among the faces, I spotted Endeavor, sticking out like a sore thumb as always. And boy, did he look pissed. He glared at me, making me return the action. I clenched my jaw, my hand twitching at my side.
"Stand down," Endeavor called out. "Or else, L/n. Surrender now."
"Surrender?" My father frowned. "Why should she have to surrender? You were the ones who caused all of this!"
"We were not the ones that destroyed half of UA," Hawks frowned. "I'm sorry, but Endeavor's right. Just surrender to us, Y/n. It will make things so much easier. Please."
I looked at the hand he extended out to me.
"You're just upset, Y/n, we can—"
"You know," I began, my voice raspy, finally able to find my words. My lips shook as I met Hawks' gaze. "I'm really sick of people telling me that I'm just upset."
"You're just a kid," Endeavor scoffed. "You have no idea—"
"I am just a kid!" I shouted, my voice echoing around the now eerily silent area. "And I am sick and tired of being treated like some kind of ticking time bomb! You all want my quirk soooo fucking bad, don't you? That's the only reason any of you ever cared! All you wanted to do was use me! Because I am the only thing that can defeat All for One. The rest of you are fucking useless. In a world with such advanced technology, you still rely on a 16-year-old to save your life. But you wanna know something?"
I turned to face them, lifting my hands beside my head. I extended my arms out, feeling a laugh bubbling in my chest. Hawks' eyebrows laced together as Endeavor frowned, making me laugh even harder.
"I give up!" I yelled. "I give up being a hero! I don't give a fuck anymore! You have done nothing to help me! If you want my goddamn quirk so bad, you can have it! Go ahead! Kill me! Drain me of my quirk, and let me die! Do it!"
