25 miles.
A bitter smile was etched onto Rocky's thin lips, his right eye was sliced out, his arm was gravely wounded, and he placed pressure on his stomach from a deep wound. Casket knelt beside him, her own check was slightly grazed, and a wound was bleeding from her right leg.
Everything went down the gutter, when the beast had returned to resume what it has been doing it stopped sniffing around and as the morning sun began to rise its skin seemed to darken from the normal grey. More teeth also began to grow from its mouth, sharp and serrated. Its tongue grew longer and stretched to the air as if it were a snake collecting scents from the air and ground. The monster had crashed through the skylight suddenly as it lunged into the air. His body seemed to rise and fall from the deep breaths it took as if on the brink of going berserk.
"Watch out!" A shout from Casket as the beast spotted Rocky and swiped with his claws at his belly, opening it up.
The beast swiped again towards his head and as he was about to chomp, Casket came from behind and stabbed it with a broken glass shard, cutting herself and it at the same time. It hissed at the pain and swiped at her with its tail, in its tail was a surprise of sharp prongs that latched under her skin and ripped.
"Fuck!" She cried out in pain. "You should have gotten aborted!"
Unable to understand the sudden turn of events the beast began to spiral out of control even more than before. It headed straight towards the next person it saw, and that was June.
Hissing in rage it was about to reach out its claws when gun shots were heard. A shrill cry echoes in the home and then sudden silence.
June bent down to look at the corpse of the monster, it was indeed hideous, he dismissed the corpse and gave a knowing looked towards the two injured people.
"It's not bleeding at all." He mumbled, as he examined the wounds.
If he looked closer the blood evaporates the moment it makes contact with oxygen. But that wasn't the case, the blood was not her own but the monsters. Looking back at the corpse, it began to disintegrate and soon enough only ash was left behind. Turning back around, the blood that belonged to the monster was gone and what was left behind was the aftermath of its deadly talon like claws.
"Thank you." June had smiled at Shawn who had brought him a first aid, bent, and beat up, but at least there was still some medical equipment inside. "This is going to sting."
Rocky was first, with his literal guts spilling out he has passed out from the fright and horror of his entrails. Quickly and swiftly, June had performed some quick surgery and had placed Rocky's insides back to their place. It was odd thought seeing this sight. A young man no older than twenty-five was performing surgery as if it was a regular occurrence.
"Seems like my employees are very capable." Avery came in with scratch marks and bruises as well as he sat down on a recliner that was coming apart from its hinges.
"You only hire the best." Casket said with a prideful look as she tried lifting her chin with cockiness but winced as she tried holding down on the wound on her, making sure it didn't leak anymore blood.
"This is going to hinder our speed." June said as he finished with Rockey and moved onto Casket. "With Rocky like this, we can't move him at the moment, if he strains his body even a little, everything is going to spill out again if her rips those stitches."
"We'll have to camp here for the time being, it would be lucky if we could go back to the gas station to live off of the canned goods that were there, but we had to leave in a hurry because of the monster." Kenny sighed.
