Karim knew full well what was in the letter. In the original story line, it was a task for the siblings to separate and head towards distinct locations to gather information. It was the very reason they received panthers as companions, the King wanted to separate them to get things done quicker but their refusal to be apart from one another became an irritating problem. The mission contained details of one sibling heading towards an ally kingdom, finding proof that they in fact were plotting against them with an enemy kingdom and reporting back to their King.
Mikhail was to go towards the ally Kingdom while Alithea went and infiltrated the enemy kingdom and steal a special treasure that the soldiers had stolen when the King's convoy were ambushed.
The more dire mission became Alithea's since the treasure was specially picked out from all the other treasures that were stolen. She was told it was simple, just steal it back and that's it, nothing too dangerous besides the part that the treasury is guarded by the undead and Mages lurking in the dark. But that was kept out of the mission details. During this period the siblings would be separated for almost four years before Mikhail had finished and succeeded while Alithea had escaped with barely her life.
"I've finished gathering our things for travel." Alithea spoke up with a gentle smile at her older brother.
"Perfect thank you, I'm reading over the mission in more detail, from the looks of it we can travel together halfway before we have to split up." Mikhail gave a big smile at the thought of them still being together for a bit longer.
"That is great news! Dark, Night, come here." Both panther brothers headed towards their disgusting masters and sat down, Alithea had bent down and placed something on their collar, both now wore cute little bow ties. "How cute~!"
"You have such amazing tastes little sister." Mikhail gave a warm smile as he held onto his sister's hand.
"Do I really? I have always thought I wouldn't be able to decorate our home when we buy it, hopefully you'll be able to help me brother?" She said with flutter of her eyes.
"Of course-" Before the scene could burn the eyes of the panther brothers they both helped each other in ripping off the bowties and shredding them to pieces. "You ungrateful bastards!"
As Mikhail was about to shock them the young prince interjected. "You're taking too long."
"Sorry your highness, lets head out immediately." With an annoyed bow they began their journey outside the kingdom walls.
As weeks passed, they traveled the vast hills and mountains, crossing swamps and flower fields. The siblings were as usual very touchy feely around each other, when the crown prince was around, they did not dare to be near him since he would always stare at them and would only avert his eyes when Mikhail and Alithea would stop making skin contact.
"He seems to be interested in you." Mikhail said with a ruthless glance at Crown Prince Déwei who was sharpening his already sharp knives.
"Does he?" Alithea said with wonder as she was unsure.
"It is obvious, he would only glare and give us looks when I am near you, but the moment I don't he goes back to his quiet and broody self."
"Isn't that just the way the prince is?" Alithea asked, confused.
"I'm not sure but he won't be able to take you away from me." Mikhail said as he threw an angered look at the prince who was paying no mind as he organized his poisoned needles.
"I would never choose anyone except you brother, you know that." Alithea caressed her brother's cheek, and both left to "hunt" some food, leaving behind a crashed-out Nader and a grooming Karim.
