Located at the very center of the city, a large skyscraper stood prideful as it dominated the market. Two young adults walked down the bustling sidewalk and miraculously avoided bumping into anyone along the way. As they neared the building with a large crane symbol on top, Uriel and Jasmine were welcomed with large open arms.
"Young master Uriel, your father is going to be thrilled you came to visit-"
"Going to the IT floor, don't tell my father or anyone else that I am here." Uriel cut the man off, who, in turn, looked saddened and snapped his fingers to make sure Uriel had access to everything. He's the next in line to take over the company after all.
"I swear he looked like a regular guy, I'm sure he didn't do anything stupid," Jasmine said, trying to find reason in her words, but looking at the frosty back of her childhood friend made it hard for her to convince herself.
"Everything has been cleared and set up for you, Young master Uriel." A woman in her late forties said this as she gave a small bow and continued on her way to attend to her work.
Going through the security doors, an entire room lit up as he entered. The entire front wall was lined up with huge monitors, and there was one keyboard and mouse. Sitting on top of a desk, pointed towards the said wall.
Sitting down, he began typing away at the location of his laptop.
"How are you going to find it? If he turned it off, wouldn't a tracker be useless?"
"Your brain is useless if you think I placed a tracker that would only work when my computer is on." Uriel sighed at such an idiotic way of thinking.
"What even is in that laptop?"
"I told you, this is worth eight hundred thousand dollars; does your simpleton mind not comprehend what I am saying?" Uriel was getting irritated. "Found it." After what seemed like a few hours, was thirty minutes that Uriel had used to track down his laptop, it surprised his it took that long since his chip was supreme when it came to tracking.
The only thought that came to mind was that maybe someone already knew there was a tracking device on the laptop and took measures to block the signal. Although a poor attempt, it did delay Uriel thirty minutes; that time could have been used to relocate the computer, or worse, remove what was inside.
"Stay here, I'm going after them."
"You can't go alone, it's too dangerous!" Jasmien looked worried for her best friend.
"Do I look stupid to you?" Uriel gave her a look that only someone who was looking at a dirty house would give. "You do realise who my father is, right?"
"I'm just worried." Jasmine pouted and crossed her arms at his mean comments. he has been even meaner today than usual.
*-*
"Mother went that way!" Satar pointed as he used his nose to pinpoint the scent he would never forget.
Rounding the corner, all six of them had to come to a halt in front of a coffee shop. Before he could walk forward and reason with his mother, a hand landed on his shoulder. He turned to see Kayan, his glazed silver eyes looking at nothing. Ever since his injury in their birth world, his eyesight was almost nonexistent; he could only see shadows.
"This carefully, if Mom acted such a way, then that means he doesn't remember us," Kayan explained as he thought back at their first encounter. "You're going to confront him again, won't change that, no matter how much we try to explain."
