Two hours had gone by when finally the door opened. I looked eagerly towards it, waiting for the perfect moment to jump out of the couch and hug that beautiful man as a way to start asking him to forgive me because I left, and made him suffered longer than it was actually necessary. Truth is that I needed that time that I took to put everything into perspective, and there are still things that I need him to explain me; but it is also true that I needed, and still do need him more than any of those things.
As he walked him he turned around, and held the door as if he were opening it for someone behind him. So I looked to find out who that other person was. Somewhere inside me I could feel a huge sob welling up, but I stopped it, before it came out. Alex came in with a huge smile on his face. He greeted me and took Scott's and his bag and went straight to Scott's room.
When Alex said hi to me, Scott turned around again, a little bit confused, because he did not know who he was talking to. When he saw me sitting on the couch with a grim smile, he knew immediately what I was thinking.
Scott: Hi! You are back sooner than I expected it! Don't make conclusions out of this; it is not what you are thinking. Wait for me here, I'll be with you in twenty minutes.
I was only able to answer him with a nod.
I know that I am not supposed to made conclusion out of this situation, but the fact that he closed the door was a little bit painful. I was definitely jealous. Then, all the jealousy got even worst when Alex came out of the room and asked me if perhaps I had seen his wallet somewhere. Apparently, he lost it the day they left together to Las Vegas.
Mitch: Before Vegas?
My voiced pitched up, mainly because I was really surprised that Scott had invited him to Vegas after everything they have been through. I think he realized what was going on in my mind; and he gave me a half smile that disappeared as fast as it appeared turning his face into a really sad one. It wasn't until then that I thought that maybe Scott had told him everything about us. That situation turned into a very awkward one.
Alex: Yes, he called me when you left to ask me if I wanted to go, of course I said yes... I mean, Vegas!, so I came to pick him up, but we had dinner before we left, and I paid for it, so my wallet was here... but when we got to the airport I didn't have it. All I had was my credit card and my ID on my pocket 'cause I took 'em out of my wallet when we booked the flights.
I understood that the situation was being awkward for him too due to all the explanations he was giving me and the way in which throwing one sentence after another without even breathing between them. So I tried to help him out a little, convincing myself that I had not thought about them talking about us, or even less, about them shearing a room in Vegas.
Mitch: Check the kitchen. Maybe you left it there if you took plates or something.
Alex: You are right! Thank you!
Mitch: My pleasure.
Alex: Here it is! Ok, then, I'm leaving! Can you tell him to call me if he needs anything?
Mitch: Sure, but why don't you tell him?
Alex: Because he is in the shower, and I can't get in there... you know... ex-boyfriends' rules...
Mitch: (I small laugh escaped between my lips) Ok, don't worry, I'll tell him.
Alex: Thank you! (He went back into the room and not too long after he came out with his luggage)
Mitch: No problem!
Alex: One last thing. Can you tell him that I left the boots that were in my bag next to his night stand?
