Song For This Chapter: Britney Spears - Criminal

-Sena(y/n)-

"Wake up!"

Beep...

Beep...

Bright. Her watery eyes were blinded by the fluorescent light that glowed above her. The room was clean, blue, and white. It stunk of antiseptics covered by artificial soapy fragrances. She stretched her legs beneath the thin, cotton, blue blanket.

A nurse in white who fiddled with products at Sena's bedside looked over.

"Miss?" Sena's voice rasped in her dry throat. "What day is it?"

The nurse's face contorted with horror as if Sena had said something heinous. Ignoring the question, she quickly scampered around a corner. A door creaked open and slammed shut.

After a wide yawn, Sena moved to prop herself up. Metal clinked when she tried to move her arm. A glimpse revealed shiny handcuffs secured around her wrists and attached to the grey plastic of the hospital bed. Her eyes lingered on them as her heart thumped before her brain calmed it.

"Shit." She fell back into the puffy pillows and attempted her Telekinesis, but no power or pain came of it, as if it was gone entirely.

Better to be trapped here than by Tomura.

Voices were raised in the hallway until there were loud enough to make out. "-I don't care what you say! I have the right to see her!"

"Mrs. Kashiwazaki-"

"-That's Miss Mikami to you!"

"Miss Mikami-"

"-I won't hear it! That's my daughter!" A door swung open as someone's feet quickened against the white tiles. Yozera zipped around the corner.

"... Mom," Sena mumbled with relief.

"Sena!" Yozera darted over, her blonde hair bouncing behind her. She practically laid atop Sena while wrapping her in her arms. Sena buried her nose into the knit of her mother's cardigan, taking in the scent of creamy lilac. "Oh, I was so worried!" Yozera rasped through a breaking voice. Sena's eyes darted up when four policemen charged into the room. Her gaze locked onto the one she recognized.

Is this really happening? Sena thought.

Yozera's breath met Sena's ear. "Don't admit to anything. I know you'll be smart." She whispered before she pulled away. It was so quiet that Sena herself had hardly heard it.

As he adjusted his black tie, Sena's vacant gaze remained fixed on Tsukuachi. "Sena," He started with a polite smile. "It's nice to see you again."

"Is it?" Sena jerked her wrist, clanking the handcuffs against the bed.

Tsukuachi nodded weakly. "Well, perhaps it would be better under different circumstances." He gestured to two of the policemen with him, each holding cases in their hands. "Let's get this over with, shall we?"

One policeman went to the end of the bed while the other went to the head. They each snapped open their cases, revealing black, mechanical restraints. Sena glanced at her mother, who stood idly by, with a hand over her mouth, choking back tears. Sena's blank eyes shifted to the wall.

"Sena Mikami, you are under arrest for the murder of Igarashi Tora." Tsukauchi started as a heavy, black ankle monitor was clamped onto her ankle. "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law." A black mechanical device that resembled a brace was fitted to her neck. When the officer pushed a button and locked it, she winced as metal prongs sank into the back of her neck."You have a right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you."
