"The Briarwoods know we've come." Percy said next to me trying to keep any emotion from entering into his voice.
"W-We should cut them down." Keyleth said looking towards, Percy and I, a single tear falling down her cheek.
"No." I said my voice breaking from the sob stuck in my throat, clearing my throat I turned away from the Sun tree and walked away with Percy refusing to look back at the family who lost their lives. "The Sun Tree's obviously being watched."
"Quickly, this way." A lady yelled motioning for kids to enter into the alleyway she was standing at before taking notice of us, "Are you crazy? Hide!" She called to us as I stopped looking at her for a moment in suspicion.
"We got to move." Grog said as we ran and hid in the alleyway the woman was standing in hiding against the wall as a giant walked past us on patrol.
"Grog, you're part giant. Can you vouch for us?" Scanlan asked Grog.
"Oh, what, 'cause we all fucking know each other?" Grog asked turning partially to look back at Scanlan, pissed off at the gnomes.
"Well, I mean, yeah, kinda." Scanlan said with a shrug.
"Huh! Why, do you wear this." The lady who called us to the alley said grabbing me and flipping me around to face her as she gripped one of my arms holding up my betrothal ring on the necklace. "A-Are you part of the resistance?"
"Uh, sorry, I-I don't follow." I said as Percy gently pulled me back from her wrapping his arm around my waist protectively gently pulling the necklace away from her as well, so it didn't break.
"The de Rolo crest." Vex said in realization, "Maybe the resistance is using it."
"We're not with them, but we do share an enemy." Vax said calmly stepping forward.
"Whitestone is worse off than I expected." Percy said tightening his grip on me slightly with a sigh.
"Briarwoods are dicks." Grog said from where he was sitting.
"Perhaps we can be of use to each other." I said turning to the woman who had grabbed me, "Is Keeper Yennen still alive?"
"Why do you want to know?" The lady asked now suspicious of us, understandably so, we were strangers to her after all.
"If you want change here, Yennen is the only one who can help bring it." Percy said seriously as the woman stared at us, debating whether or not to trust us, before leading us to where Keeper Yennen was.
"Friends, I know you have suffered. My heart weeps and my back breaks under the weight, of these past few years. But anger makes us reckless. Violence doesn't burn away the clouds, it only makes more smoke. Have faith and wait for a sign. A new dawn is coming, friends. And soon we will bask in its glory, together." Keeper Yennen said as we watched her give her speech from the shadows hiding from the guards, when everyone had cleared out as night fell and she was walking away her path lit by a lantern, we finally decided to approach her. "Greeting strangers. We don't see many new faces these days." She said when we got closer to her.
"Keeper Yennen, tell me, what do the Briarwoods make of your sermons?" Percy asked standing next to me, as we were at the front of the group, hidden by the shadows.
"They don't attend my services." She said, "But their Pale Guard tolerate me, for now."
"You truly believe the Dawnfather will send a sign?" I asked gently one of my hands raising to grab Percy's upper arm lightly as my other hand gently rested on his lower arm.
