As we entered the house through the passage way we saw the boy slowly crawling across the floor. The house was shaking like crazy.
"Hey, Kid, we need you to make your way back towards us, it isn't safe here. You're Mom is worried about you," Max said and the boy jumped a little as he turned to look at us.
"But - But we left Cona behind, I - I can't leave without him," the boy said with tears in his eyes. Cona? I doubt it's a person, or the mom wouldn't have left without them, so then what? A stuffed animal or a pet maybe?
"If you tell me what Cona looks like we'll find him for you, I just need you to come back this way, okay?" Max said reaching his hand out towards the boy. The boy hesitated then started to make his way to us. He stopped and looked around. That's when I sensed the large magical blast coming our way. It crashed through the roof of the building suddenly and not thinking I jumped out to shield the boy from the falling debris.
"What? Tyrian, no, you idiot!" Max yelled out. Once the dust settled I was surprised I was uninjured. Max came hurrying over and I checked on the boy. He was crying, but seemed fine as well.
As I got up I heard Max sigh and he gently helped the boy up as well. Looking around I noticed that the debris fell around us but not on us at all. That's weird, could the boy have magical abilities? I didn't feel any powers activating though, so perhaps we just got lucky. As I was lost in thought Max and the boy grabbed a cage with a cute Brown, black, and white rabbit inside. So it was a pet the boy was looking for. Well everything worked out at least. We'd better get him back to his Mom now.
"You know, I know you just wanted to save your rabbit, but that was super dangerous. You made your Mom and everyone else worry. You got lucky nothing terrible happened to you," I said and looked over at him as we walked.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make everyone worry, I just wanted to save Cona. Mom was panicking and we ended up leaving without him. When I heard the scary noises above I - I was worried something bad would happen to him," The boy said.
"Okay, but maybe next time you should tell a grown up about it instead of running off on your own, okay?" Max said and the boy nodded. Once we got him back to his Mom she cried and made sure he was okay. She then lectured him about running off and what he did being very dangerous, much like we had.
"Right then, we're going to go make sure everyone else made it out. These two nice ladies here will stay and continue leading you to safety," I said to the group. It's time to part ways and join in the fight.
"Thank you for protecting me, Mister. Please be safe too," the boy said and I nodded to him before Max and I headed off. They'll be in good hands with Stella and Amber. The others joined in the fight right away after they helped people get to the shelter tunnels.
Since it was already unlocked we headed out where that boy's house was. We split up from there. I had to find a sword, no doubt the enemy isn't only going to use their powers, and sometimes weapons or items can be used as a medium to enhance some powers, much like Stella's swords.
"Oh my, I don't sense any magic coming from you at all. What is a powerless boy doing around here on the battle field? Did you get lost or separated from your group? Are you perhaps a citizen that got lost trying to get to the escape tunnels?" A guy said jumping down from a roof top.
"Who - Who are you? What did you mean by powerless? I thought it was a tornado warning so - so why are there other people out here?" I asked trying to play dumb. I'm not ready to fight just yet. We didn't carry any weapons with us so we wouldn't arouse suspicion from the citizens, but we did agree to meet up with the others who had our weapons with them. I just had three more streets to go before meeting up with Nash.
I dodged quickly as the guy attacked me. He wasn't using his powers, but he did have some kind of curved sword in his hand. He smiled at me cruely and tisked at me.
"You know it isn't nice to lie to people. With those reflexes and moves I'd say you aren't a normal citizen at all. Question is, why would a powerless boy like you be on the battle field? Don't tell me you think you can fight us too. Please, fighting you isn't even a challenge, Boy," he said and attacked me. I dodged him over and over. He even seemed like he was getting pissed off that he can't hit me.
"Tyrian!" Nash called out and tossed something towards me. He then turned back to deflect an attack by someone else. A sword hit the ground near by and I was glad it was sheathed. If that had been an open blade and a few feet further it could have killed me. He can be so wreckless sometimes.
"You think that sword will help you at all, Kid. You should have escaped with those useless humans," he said and I felt him call his powers. I took a defensive stance and tried to determine what his power could possibly be.
I felt it coming at me, but I couldn't physically see it. I dodged out of the way and watched it crash into a wall punching a big hole into it. If that hits me I'm done for. Was that wind magic or something else?
