I awoke for a moment wondering if it had all been a dream. Where am I? What happened to me? As I looked around I noticed Lilliana in a chair next to my bed. Thank goodness she's alright. It seemed like she was asleep. Was it all just a dream? No, I don't think it was.
But what happened? Is everyone alright? Did we win the fight against the dark guild? My head is all fuzzy, I can't really remember what happened. I remember saving the boy from debris caused by a magical attack. I even remember killing that guy on my way to meet up with the others. After that I found out that evil bastard took Lilliana and I confronted him. We fought and his men even tried to interfere. We ended up fighting on the ground. Some how I know I killed that man, but how? I don't remember much of our fight.
Did I get hurt? Is that why I can't remember and why my head feels so cloudy? I slowly sat up and winced at the pain. Not wanting to wake Lilliana up I bit my lip so as not to let out a cry. Well it definitely wasn't a dream, but how did I get here and where are the others? Did they get hurt too?
I took another good look at Lilliana. She had bandages all up her arms and even had one across her forehead. Damn it, she did get hurt. I don't remember seeing her get hurt during our fight, so did it happen after that? Crap, I really hate seeing her hurt. If only I could have been of more help to them.
Calm down, she's alive and that's good. Did any of the others survive the fight too? I should check, but my body doesn't want to respond. It took everything I had just to sit up. How long have I been laying here exactly? Hours, Days, Weeks even?
Augh, why can't I remember anything after we continued our fight on the ground? I put my head in my hands and ended up strangling my hair.
I heard a gasp from where Lilliana had been sleeping and suddenly I was gently wrapped in warm and loving arms. She's awake? But I thought I had been quiet enough not to wake her.
"You're awake. It's okay, everyone is fine. The war is done," She whispered softly and I could feel her tears on my back.
"If so, then why are you crying, my love?" I mumbled softly and leaned into her arms. Did something happen that she's not telling me? I dropped my hands into my lap.
"Idiot, you're the only one whose been badly hurt. We weren't sure if you'd wake up or die. When we all saw you collapse after you beat that man, we subconsciously all decided at once that we would not let your efforts go to waste and we wanted to finish it quickly so we could get you some help," she mumbled.
"I see, I worried everyone again. I'm sorry. I'm just glad you're all alive," I mumbled and carefully curled up in her arms. "To be honest I get the feeling I wasn't sure if I would survive either," I added before falling back to sleep again.
Lillian's P.O.V.
He passed out again and I sighed. At least I know he's okay, but what did he mean by "I get the feeling"? Does he not remember something? I mean he was hurt pretty badly. I'm surprised he was able to defeat that monster. I didn't see their fight much since they were out of sight for a while and I had my own fight to focus on, but I get the feeling he pushed himself way to far in order to win.
What that man had said though still bothers me. Is Tyrian really a Wizard and what was that thing he yanked out of his chest? More importantly, Uncle refused to answer any of my questions about it, once the fighting was over. What does he know about what that man said and about Tyrian?
Is it really possible that a device exists that can seal away one's powers so completely that it's undetectable, even to the magic user themselves? What is Tyrian's real past? How is it he doesn't remember anything? I want to know, so I can help him.
I gently laid Tyrian back down so he could rest and recover. It's been a little over a week since the fighting stopped and this was the first time Tyrian woke at all. He's still recovering as we all are.
Hesitantly, I left his side to go find my Uncle. I need answers and so does Tyrian. Eventually, I found him in his study. Thankfully he was alone for once, so it's the perfect time to corner him and make him talk.
"Uncle, Tyrian woke for a few minutes and was even talking with me. I have no doubt he'll be back to himself soon enough. Before that happens I want you to tell me everything that you know and don't try to brush me off this time, because I will restrain you if I have to," I said narrowing my eyes at him. He set the book he had been reading down and leaned against his desk.
"I see. Child, you are more and more like your father every day. He was a straight forward and protective man. Very well, I don't know much right now, but I have been digging into it. Do you know there is an unspoken rule amongst Wizards that it's taboo for two S class wizards to fall in love and bare a child? Do you know why that might be?" he asked and I was confused why he'd being that up at a time like this.
"Well, I don't - Why would that be relevant?" I mutrered.
"It's to keep them from baring a child too powerful for the council to control. If that child is born with the powers of both parents or even with powers superior to that of it's parents then what do you suppose that child would become? Evil or Good? With that much power they'd be overwhelmingly unpredictable. To keep the power balance it's Taboo for powerful people to love one another and yet it still happens.
Some do it purposely to try to create something more powerful and yet others probably do it because they finally find someone on equal footing. That said typically the born child gets the opposite effect. They're born without powers at all or with such finite amounts that they aren't even considered Wizards. Now what do you suppose would happen to a child that is born with strong powers?" Uncle asked.
"Do you have a point your trying to make, Uncle? What does any of this have to do with Tyrian?" I asked, but as soon as the words left my mouth I understood before he even explained himself.
"That child would be killed without question. How do you suppose you would keep your child safe? Hide that your its parents and maybe even hide that child's powers. You may even want to go into hiding and pretend you're a normal family. My theory is just that, I think maybe Tyrian might be a child of this Taboo and his parents blocked his powers to keep him safe. The question remains though, who are his real parents and can we keep this from getting to the Council?" Uncle said. Surprised I shakily sat down in a chair near by and just stared at my hands.
"That all said it's just a theory, I have no proof of it. Still, I can't think of any other reason someone would go that far to hide his powers. I want to get more answers before Tyrian comes to me with the same questions. Can you keep this between us for a while?" He added after a few minutes of silence.
"I won't lie to Tyrian. If he starts asking questions about it, I will tell him about your theory. But until he wakes and after that I won't say anything to anyone else about it," I said and he sighed with a nod.
"I can accept that, now why don't you go get something to eat. You skipped Breakfast and Lunch again today. Eating only Dinner everyday won't help you recover any faster," he said and I sighed.
I'd rather get back to Tyrian's side, but knowing he's going to be okay I suppose I should at least not make him worry needlessly. Giving Uncle a firm nod I left the room only to run right into Dustin's solid frame. He must have heard everything, He's so sneaky.
I just found a loop hole to keeping my promise to Uncle though.
