I decided to head down early so I'd have time to prepare myself for the long explanations to come. Captain and Master were there waiting by a table with a small stack of papers. I made my way to stand by them.
"We don't have much time so all I need to say is this... Did you tell them your plans to fight too?" He asked. I shook my head, no. "Then don't until we get their answers first," he replied. That makes sense, he doesn't want them deciding based on my decision.
"Understood, Captain. You and Master Faraday may want to sit down for all of this, just a fair warning. It's going to be quite a long story and probably shocking to you," I said and they both gave me looks with mixed feelings, mainly curiosity, but also confusion, doubt, and accusation. They must've talked to Dustin after all.
Once my friends started arriving Captain slid a chair to me to sit in. They joined the others on the bleacher benches. I turned it backwards and sat, stradling the chair to face them. It was something that I do often, but not usually around a group of people, mainly when I'm one on one with my friends.
"Okay, we're all here. You better start talking, Dude," Naxos said and my friends nodded in agreement. Judging by Captain's and Master's looks I judged that they invited Dustin to join us.
"Not quite, we're still waiting on one more, correct?" I said looking at my two superiors. They gave a firm nod but looked surprised. "You do know he might not actually show up right?" I added.
Captain basically said Dustin would because he ordered him to. Not a moment later the door opened and Dustin entered, closing the door behind him. He staid by the door and refused to sit with the others or come any further in. Probably so he could leave if he decides he doesn't want to hear me out. He really didn't have to bring him here, what I'm gonna say has no effect on Dustin at all. I shook off my usual quiet and calm self and got really serious. Guess there is no more hesitating, it's time.
"What I am going to tell you all cannot leave this room. I don't like talking about myself at all, not about my past or my problems, but it isn't fair to leave you all with only the pieces you know.
First, let me apologize ahead of time for hiding things and keeping things from you all. Half of you only recently became my friends and there are plenty of other reason why, which most you'll find out today. I'll explain how I met each of you and also why it's important. Even the people who aren't here today.
My parents were killed because of their job and affiliation with this guild as you all know and of course Captain and the others took me in. What I don't talk about is that after my parents past away I swore to myself I'd get stronger and trained by myself every night.
None of it was like a real fight though so a few years after I got here I challenged Master and lost completely. When he told me I still wasn't strong enough for him to teach I won't lie that that hurt, but it also made me stronger, because I still didn't stop training. That same year Captain decided to start sending me on trips with some of the other workers here.
That's when I met Amber and Ray. They were battling with their earth magic and testing eachother. I later found out they were not from the same guilds, Ray was actually there to learn from Amber," I said and was going to continue, but Nash let out a chuckle.
"I deffinately remeber what happened next. I had been chasing after that damn fool for days and finally found him so I crashed the party. The guards were not happy either. They surrounded the field, but I didn't care a bit. Ray and I went at it and Amber kept yelling at me to butt out of their fight. It ended up a two on one fight and the guards were totally lost at what to do.
In comes a powerless idiot who punched both Ray and me in the faces to stop the fight, yelling for us to stop being reckless. We didn't know what to say or do to the crazy idiot who jumped into a fight like that. No one moved for what felt like ten minutes, until he told Ray and I to apologize to Amber and to the guards. Of course I refused and so did Ray. The Guild master stepped in to diffuse the situation and the dumb kid walked away like nothing happened.
Later, Ray and I having the same idea saught out Tyrian and when we saw each other we obviously weren't happy about it. Tyrian said of we were going fight again he'd kill us both. Of course we didn't know at the time he couldn't do that," he said and rolling my eyes I took back over.
"Anyways, Amber also came to thank me for trying to help, as reckless as it was. Nash left not too long after getting a long lecture from the Guild Master and their Guard Captain. I asked them to keep me out of the incident report, since I really hadn't done much to help and didn't want Captain to hear I got mixed up in a fight. I was there for about a week and also met Stella who I asked to teach me a few new training methods, since she has similar abilities to Master's. Since she didn't want to teach me how to fight, we compromised. After my week there the four of us kept in touch. It was a while before I ran into Nash again though. We'll get back to that though since it's not in order of events.
A good three or four months later I had a school field trip out of town. While there we ran across another school on the same trip and decided to team up and meet new people. Of course I kept to myself like I always have," Candice cut me off and asked if she could tell the rest. Shrugging I nodded and let her continue.
"I of course, being the social one, noticed he wasn't participating so I went over to him. -" More like skipped over and got in my face. "- Our teachers had said to stay in groups of two or more so I told Tyrian I'd be his walking buddy. He declined saying he wasn't planning on doing anything, so I drug him.
Eventually he gave in and just wandered around with me. When we got to a point where no one was around he surprised me. He stopped walking and looked up at the sky saying he sensed a magic user. He probably didn't know he spoke out loud or somehow knew that I was a wizard too," she said looking at me.
"It was pretty much both. I had been around magic users so long at that point I learned that the air changes when magic is called and magic users have a distict smell, almost sweet," I said and everyone just looked at each other surprised. Had they not known that? Did I really not tell any of them I could sense when they called their powers?
"So that's how you knew. Everytime in training, when I'd call my powers you'd back off instantly," Master said, "interesting." I shrugged.
"Anyway, I knew when she approached me she was a wizard, but I really hadn't meant to talk out loud either." I said getting back on track, "When I felt the air change it took me off guard. It was Candice who asked me which direction it was coming from and we headed that way. I had no idea what she planned to do, but I followed her anyways."
"We never did find out what happened. By the time we got there there was no one around, though I could definitely feel the magic left behind. No doubt it was some sort of fight," Candice said, "though we were called back for lunch so we didn't get to look around much. It did get Tyrian and I talking though."
"When our field trip ended Candice said that if I ever visited her guild to drop in and say hi, which I did eventually and we've been friends since," I said deciding to end that story. There wasn't much else to say, it's not as exciting of a story as the others, but it meant a lot to me. Her and Max are my two closest friends out of all of them.
I asked if they wanted to take a break to get drinks or snacks and they agreed we could stop for a break. I went and got some waters. All the talking was making me thirsty. I decided to hit the bathroom as well.
When I got back everyone was already waiting. Even Dustin returned, to my surprise.
