Chapter Seven: Arrivals Day Two

The next day I was woken up to word that two more of my friends arrived. Captain had explained to me yesterday we only had four rooms available so I'd have to room my friends together, but figuring all that out really depends on how well they all get along.

Once showered and dressed I headed out to see who had arrived and not surprisingly it was Amber and Stella, both were from the same guild. They're pretty serious about their missions and try to stay punctual so them being the next to show up doesn't surprise me. I had them meet Candice and we filled them in once I got them settled into a room. They would be fine sharing a room, since they get along pretty well.

After my training with Master I gathered the others for lunch and introduced Stella and Amber to the rest of my friends.

Not everyone in the guild was happy about my friends being here so we did get a few glares from some people, but mainly my concern was with how Dustin was starting to look. I've noticed since Cadice arrived yesterday and now with the other two here,  he's been looking more and more pissed. This doesn't even concern him so why the hell does he care?

"So who else did you call and why us ten?" Stella asked. I sighed and told her exactly what I told Candice yesterday. Just them, Ray, and a few others I thought could help. To wich Candice reiterated that I was being very vegue. I shrugged and said no more on the matter.

"We heard you've been training, you mind if tomorrow we get to watch?" Amber asked.

"I don't mind, but that's up to Master Faraday," I said, "He's our fighting instructor here and the one training me." They asked me to introduce them later so they could talk. I nodded and also reminded them they should speak to our guild captain at some point as well. While they are here I'm sure he'll want them to follow our rules as if they were a part of the guild. No exceptions. After all they will be fighting with us.

"Tyrian, you've got that spaced out look again. You've been doing that for days now. What's going on in that head of yours?" Lillyana asked. I told her it was nothing, again, and started to eat my Ramen before it got cold. She didn't look convinced and I just shrugged at her. Even if I wanted to I wouldn't even know how to explain my mile-a-minute thoughts to her, or anyone.

"He's just being a warry wart like usual aren't yah, Tyrian?" Max said as he and Nala - his familiar -  came up to our table. I stood and shook his hand.

"Glad you made it, Max. I wasn't especting you to make it here so fast. You must've rushed over," I said.

"Couldn't leave my old pal hangin'. Besides I haven't seen you since the incident with Shay," He said slinging his arm around my neck.

I shook my head at him trying to get him to shut up. The last thing I need is for everyone to hear that story. Of course Max doesn't know about the sword, but he was with me when we met Shay and when I learned of Shays death. We sat down and I introduced him to everyone. Of course it was Stella to ask who Shay was and I saw recognition in his eyes. Good, now he knows they don't know.

"Oh just an old mutual friend of ours. Nothing to write home about. He left on a journey of his own and well, we had to let him go," he said giving as much as he could of an explanation. Yep, Shay took the journey of death and yeah we couldn't have stopped it, no matter how much we wanted to. I simply nodded in agreement and left it at that. I plan to talk about how I met each of them eventually, but for right now things are better left unsaid. It's been a long couple of years.

Once I was done eating I excused myself and headed to the roof. Sometimes I like to go there to think and get some air. When I reached the top of the stairs I stepped out only to find someone else already up there.

"Captain?" I asked surprised to see him. I should've known he'd know about the roof, but I never thought I'd see him there.

"Oh, Tyrian. What an unexpected surprise. I was actually just about to come find you," he said as I stepped beside him. Was he smoking? "I wanted to talk to you about your guests. I have only one question for you and I want you to answer it with the truth," he said seriously and I nodded for him to continue. "Well, did you bring them here with the intent to ask them for their help with the evacuation or with the intent of them helping with the fight?" He asked. I sighed.

"Well, that's not an easy question. Yes they will be of great help for the evacuation, but I did plan to ask if they'd stay to fight," I said honestly. He already knew the answer so there was no use lieing to him. He nodded.

"I see. And if they were to be killed in battle what do you suppose I tell their guild masters? They aren't aware this is a dangerous mission," he said.

"I'm aware of that. That's why I would leave it their choice to stay and fight after the evac. is done. Should they die, which I hope doesn't happen, we could explain to the Guild masters that they chose to stay and that the dark guild attacked us without warning," I said.

"So you want me to lie to them?" He asked giving me a stern look. I sighed.

"Not at all. We have no idea when they'll strike, so it won't be a lie. And it will be their choices to stay or leave. Plus, I will take full responsibility for my actions if I have to. Should they want to blame me for any harm to my friends I would already blame myself," I said. He studdied me for a long moment before putting out his cigarette.

"And who said you weren't as clever or smart as your parents were. You do have guts kid, I'll give you that. I want to be there when you sit them all down for a chat. So let me know okay," he said and I nodded. It was a deal, however I am surprised he's not trying to stop me. Interesting.

Once he left I leaned up against the ledge wall and sighed. I was a fool to think I'd be able to hide anything from that man. He is the guild leader for a reason, not just in power alone.
