"I already have." Adrien said, glancing at Marinette who could feel herself hold her breath unknowingly. Her heart almost skipped a beat, noticing how unfair it is for Adrien to have his handsome good looks to leave a toll on Marinette.
But even so, for Adrien to say he already found the one left an unsettling feeling in Marinette's stomach. "Well, I wish you good luck with her. I'm sure you can make any girl you want to come running after you." Marinette said as a joke, yet had to force herself to have the confidence to encourage him. "And I'm not just saying that because you're my boss."
'you can make any girl you want to come running after you' Adrien repeated in his mind, yet sighed at the thought of a certain girl who stood still where she stands. Not even moving an inch.
"Well, that's the plan anyway..." Adrien mumbled to himself, making sure Marinette couldn't hear.
Marinette tilted her head in confusion at the last part he said but shook her head and began to change the topic. "Your turn," she said since she knew Adrien was also dying to ask his question from earlier.
But where to begin, he thought.
"What... were you and Chloe talking about?" Adrien asked.
Marinette shrugged, "I guess you can say she was giving me a few tips?" it wasn't like she was lying. Chloe was giving her all the warnings when it came to another certain blonde.
Adrien rose a brow. "Seriously? That's all?" She shrugged again, biting her lips in nervousness. She sure as hell wasn't going to embarrass herself and say Chloe was preparing her to 'give him a second chance' or whatever the hell that meant. "That's not fair, I was being honest with you."
"It's girl code, Mr. Agreste." Marinette giggled.
He scoffed, "Since when were you and Chloe Bourgeois close enough to call each other 'girls'?"
She shrugged again, "And since when were you and Chloe Bourgeois NOT close?" she giggled, remembering the little spat they had at the restaurant and office. "Not only her but Alya too?"
He rolled his eyes, "they have a problem with me. Not the other way around." Although, he does have a certain beef going on with the both of them.
She smiled, turning to him with a fist on her cheek as she unknowingly leaned closer to him with her elbow propped against the glove compartment. Adrien took notice of this sly move and felt his cheeks turn red at how close Marinette's head was to his chest.
"It's kind of nostalgic," she mumbled, her eyes almost fluttering shut as she yawned, suggesting she was getting tired. "It kind of reminds me of how we used to be."
Adrien smiled, "We used to bicker like a married couple... or at least that's what Alya and Nino would say."
She nodded her head and hummed and agreed.
Marinette didn't have the energy to say anything else. Not only was she up from before the sun and risen, to the middle of the night, it was no surprise that this long car ride was making her sleepy.
Adrien glanced at the blunette who was struggling to stay up and frowned at the thought of their conversation starting to come to an end. As much as he wanted the two to continue talking, he knew that the best thing to do right now was to let her sleep.
Adrien wasn't tired at all, he drank way too much caffeine to even dream of taking a nap tonight, not to mention the loads of paperwork he needed to finish after he dropped off Marinette.
So he sighed and once he came across a red light, he tried to shake the bluenette awake to try and recline her seat so she could take a much more comfortable nap.
With his right hand, he touched her cheek in an attempt to wake her up, but instead got a few grumbles of irritation from Marinette who was now sleeping soundly. If there was one thing everyone knew about Marinette, it was that she didn't like anyone disturbing her sleep. He would know, even back in high school none of their teachers would even bother waking her up anymore.
One last attempt to wake her up, she irritatedly and unconsciously grabbed his arm as a reflex and slammed it onto the glove compartment where her elbow used to be.
Adrien flinched at her sudden strength, but what's more is that not only did she grab his arm, but she placed her cheek onto his, as if it was some sort of pillow cushion to rest her head.
He blushed at the sight of Marinette snuggling close with his arm beneath her, not only that, but even through his expensive-sleeved suit, he could feel her light breathing and her lips comfortably touching his elbow.
He bit his lip and nervously snapped his head back forward to try and focus on driving.
Restrain Adrien. RESTRAIN.
He told himself constantly as if it was his mantra. Although his chest was beating rapidly and his mind going completely wild. There was one thing he knew. He wanted to savor this moment for all he could.
His foot was no longer touching the gas at this point.
