Today's work day had gone by fast. Marinette was still in training, but she was quite a fast learner. She familiarized herself with Adrien's clientele, had already figured and planned out Adrien's schedule for this week, and even got her desk, which was only a few feet away from Adrien's, sorted.
This was one of the many qualities Adrien had grown to be fond of Marinette for when she's presented with a task she's passionate about, she'll go above and beyond without a doubt.
Luckily for Adrien, Marinette's heavy passion was fashion, and this company was one of her childhood dream jobs. It was like God created Marinette to be Adrien's missing puzzle piece. Or vice versa. Whatever the case, they suited each other.
"Good job, Marinette." Adrien complimented, standing up from his desk to walk towards her who was wrapping up for the day.
Hearing her name being called out, the bluenette looked up from her pile of work and watched as her gaze met with forest-green eyes once again. With a slight gasp from surprise, she quickly smiled and turned back to the ground, picking up her satchel filled with a binder of her work.
Adrien hadn't noticed that shy move of hers, but Marinette's cheeks were beginning to heat up, trying her best to avoid staring into his eyes again. She was haunted by secondhand embarrassment of this morning, remembering the pathetic show she displayed to her boss.
Seriously Marinette, crying? How unprofessional!
This wasn't the first time she cried in front of the blonde, a few times in high school and a few days ago. But those were valid reasons. The reason for this morning? Marinette had no clue whatsoever.
And not to mention, she was 99.9% sure that Adrien had kissed her forehead. She felt and heard it, so there was no way that she could just imagine her boss sinking his lips on the top of her head. But the real question was, why isn't Adrien affected in any way?
This was what made Marinette go crazy. The entire day she couldn't bring herself to look into his eyes, hell, she had to push her limits just to stand next to him. Yet the blonde made it seem like nothing bizarre happened this morning. Which was insane because she knows Adrien has a photographic memory. She knows he remembers, but was he just forcing himself to act as normal as possible?
If so, he should be an actor rather than a CEO.
"Shall we go?" Adrien asked, grabbing the satchel that was hanging over Marinette's shoulders, and swinging it on his instead, gesturing his hands to point to the elevator indicating it was time to clock out.
The bluenette mumbled a small 'thank you' for holding her bag and took a step towards the elevator. But before the pair could reach the doors, she planted her feet on the ground and bit her lip.
Riding home. With her boss. With Adrien Agreste. Again?! There was no way Marinette would be able to handle sitting in a small confined space during rush hour. She felt awkward enough as is. "Mr. Agreste, you don't have to drop me off home--"
"Marinette don't be ridiculous," he rolled his eyes, turning back to face her, taking a step closer to the bluenette. "How else are you going home."
She furrowed her brows looked down at her toes and shrugged. "A-actually Alya and I were planning on going shopping after work. S-so I can ask her to pick me up." Marinette was stuttering again, which Adrien took note of. He knew that she only did this when she was nervous. Nervous around him.
He hummed and raised a brow, staring down at the petite girl in front of him with skepticism in his eyes. "Alya doesn't finish work until another 2 hours." Adrien knew of this information simply from the benefit of his best friend dating her, and having to listen to Nino rant off on Alya's journalist work schedule.
