JADEN'S POV

I have been sat at this diner for god knows how long, and no word from Alissa at all. Why would she just get up and leave like that? Was it really an emergency, or an excuse to get out of this insane situation we are in?

I get an incoming call. Thinking its Alissa, I answer it without a second thought.

Josh/Jaden

"Alissa?"

"Do I sound like Alissa to you?"

"Oh, sorry Josh."

"Just wondering if you got time to pick up some yoghurt before you head home. Kio ate Alissa's, and she told me he's on his last strike."

"Kio never learns his lesson does he? Fine, I'll pick some up for you."

"You're the best man."

"I wouldn't want to upset Alissa any further, don't stress at all."

"I take the conversation with her didn't go well?"

"You would be correct."

"I'm sorry Jade"

"Hey, it is what it is. I'll see you at home soon."

I hang up.

Just as I am about to get up and leave, I hear the ding of the door. And there walks in Alissa, with slightly puffy eyes and flushed cheeks. She sheepishly smiles at me, her eyes welling. Seeing her like this jolts me up from my seat and I rush over to her. Before I can say a word she throws herself into me and wraps her delicate arms around my waist. I lean in and stroke the back of her head. We stay like this, as I hear her gently weep into my chest. I am sure she can hear my heart sooth just from her touch. For a moment, it is only us two and I feel all of her emotions rush through every bone in my body.

ALISSA'S POV

"Well fuck," is all Jaden can muster after I tell him everything.

"I don't even know what to think. I mean I know she gave me and Griffin so much to deal with as kids. But there was something about her today. She seemed...happy. Contempt. Well, I guess she's going now. I dreamed of the day I would never see my mom again. And now that day may have finally come." I sigh and Jaden takes my hand and holds in towards his chest. He leans in and caresses my thumb with his lips.

"What are you telling Griffin?"

"The truth, I guess. I'm not sure how much he will want to hear it though." There is a quiet moment for a second, and I remember how I left it with him. All those things he said, those beautiful words that I hope I am not stupid for believing in.

"Look-." He begins to exclaim.

"I love you." I interrupt.

"I always have, I think. I mean, you make it so easy. And after last night, I was confused. I didn't know what your intentions were, and I never really know what you're thinking. I want you, okay? More than I think I have ever wanted anything. But we have done this so much. This back and forth. And, if we do it this time, I want it to be forever. Forever and always."

His eyes light up and he reaches out he pinkie. I reach mine out and we interlock them.

"I promise I want this. Forever and always."

We drive back to the house, and I see the sun slowly creeping behind the trees. The window is down, and my hair is tickling my face from the tender breeze. Jaden is steering the wheel with one hand, his other situated on my thigh. I am sure I have had a dream just like this before.

He pulls into the drive way and quickly exits the car. I glance at him, confused, until he reaches my side of the door and cracks it open.

"M'Lady!" He exclaims with a preposterous accent and I take his hand as he guides me out of the car.

"Greatly appreciated good sir!" I reply and we make our way inside.

JADENS POV

Everyone is downstairs when we open the door. Josh notices us first. He glances down in our direction to see me and Alissa, our palm interlinked. A great grin spreads across his face.
"No way!" Josh exclaims, "Griffin I win the bet you stinker."

It takes Griffin a moment to connect the dots. When he does, a matching expression is seen across his face. "Shut up. I never thought this day would come."

If someone would have told me a few mere months ago that I would be standing here, with my best friend's sister, madly in love, I would have slapped them senseless. And yet, here I am. Standing in Sway House, absolutely smitten.

It seems as though the entire house is here, which happens once every blue moon. There is a buzz in the air that I want to bottle up and keep with me forever. There is chatter around the living room, as word spreads about me and Alissa. It was then that Griffin calls the attention of everyone in the room.

"I guess it's cause to celebrate. Should we order in?" Griffin announces, and everyone perks up in agreement.

I let go of Alissa's hand as she runs squealing to Grace.
I cannot stop myself from smiling. Surrounded solely by the people that I love and cherish the most. The time in the Sway House has brought me so much. My best friends, the love of my life. What else could I ask for?

These were my people, that's for sure. Forever and always.

"Guys,"Alissa grunts from the corner of my eye, "who the fuck ate all my yoghurt."
