The scream is nearby.
It sounds like an ooman. As I leap my way toward where I heard it, I spot something on the ground.
In the darkness, a small being is rushing to the noise as well. I recognize the shape.
I stealthily follow her through the treetops. As I follow/observe her, I can't help but find it impressive how she's managed to survive for so long. Especially with a serpant and three of us yautja in these woods with her.
As I wonder about her survival techniques, we get to where the scream came from.
Oh no.
High above the muddy ground, snared by the ankle, is that scrawny ooman that ran away. In front of him is one of my brothers preparing to gut him.
And running up behind him is the female ooman.
Before I can call to him, she already beats me to it, "STOP!" She shrieks.
My brother turns toward her, seemingly bewildered by the sight of another ooman.
"Oh shit." I hear her squeak.
I fully expect her to lash out, or run. Instead, she disarms herself of her weapon and pack.
"Clever." I whisper.
The female ooman looks up. She must have heard me. Now's a better time than ever to intervene before she gets herself killed.
