Great, just when I thought I was free, I'm stuck with her again. Well...so be it. At least she'll be safe.
I mindlessly soar through the trees, looking for any place to put her. A branch? No, too high. A hill? No, she'd be too visible.
Eventually, searching for safe spots gets annoying. Her small hands become a distraction when they tighten their grip. I try holding onto her back to keep her steady.
I can feel her heavy breathing. Her body feeling warm despite the cold winds. Her arched spine is hard, rigid, strong.
My face begins to feel weird. And hot.
I look up at the night sky. Thankfully, the ship hasn't arrived yet, so I still have time.
A large rock? Near a river? Under a log? A cave?
Cave, that could work.
I glide towards a small cave peeking out the side of a large hill. Inside, it's dark and empty. Perfect.
I plop her down then turn to the caves opening.
Good, now leave, forget about her and move on with your life.
"Bear?"
Bear.
There's that strange name again. It's not bad. Though, it makes me think what she'd sound like if she were to say my real name.
I tilt my head towards her. I see her looking around. My x-ray setting shows her heart beating rapidly. There's something off.
"B-Bear, this isn't what I meant! How am I supposed to be safe here?!"
I look around with her. The place is secluded and far away. No predators will be able to find her. Surely she could find food on her own. What was she so worried about?
"You can't just strand me in the middle of the woods!"
Odd, I've seen her survive these woods before. She could do it again, right?
Why am I even wondering? She's safe, now I can go home and forget all this.
...Right.
I grunt, my final goodbye. Ignoring my aching chest, I stand at the caves edge. My feet freeze for a second. I can still hear her as I quickly leave.
