They're heading to the laboratory. I see them land on top of the buildings wide metal roof, then become invisible.
What could they possibly want here?
I've never stepped foot into the laboratory. Anyone who dared to always got a harsh penalty for it. But this time, the building looked strangely empty. There weren't even any gaurds stationed outside.
I quietly creep up to the doors, seeing that it was locked without a keycard. I pace around, thinking of how to get in.
I look up into the night sky, then scan the rooftop, then the trees.
   The trees!
I run over to one that's the nearest to the building, then begin to scale my way to the top. I shimmy onto the strongest branch which, luckily, is the closest one to the roof. I slowly stand, wobbling a bit.
Once my balance is gained, I aim for the roof. I take a running start. My feet jump off the end of the branch. I reach out.
My hands catch the edge of the roof. Sweat begins to pool onto my palms. I groan as I quickly pull myself up and climb onto the roof. I catch my breath, wipe myself off and look around.
No sign of the humanoids. I begin walking around, looking for some kind of entrance.
I see something, an opening. I run over to it and stare down a large, perfectly cut hole. I see a dimly lit hallway at the bottom.
I take a deep breath, then carefully fall down the hole. My feet land painfully on the white, linoleum floors, but not too much to hinder me. I look down each end, then notice a door that's slightly creaked open.
I push on it, revealing a dark casamous hall.
This has to be where they went.
I get inside, feeling my way around. I eventually reach a staircase. I inch my way down it, squinting through the dark. Once I get to the bottom, there's another door.
I feel its surface. It's cold, steel, definitely prohibited. I open it like the last one, being immediately hit by fluorescent light.
Once my eyes adjust, I see a long, narrow room. One side of it is a large, black wall with a control panel in front of it, while the other has a few metal cabinets.
I approach the panel and notice some research papers scattered across it. Out of curiosity, I take one and begin to read:

The specimen has stopped producing eggs. The cause is currently unknown, but it has been hypothesized to be because of location changes.

I put it down then pick up another. This one is a fatality report.

   Report:
There have been a total of three fatalities during this week. Requesting more safety ramps be built or more stationed gaurds.

There are ton of others, mostly just research papers talking about a mysterious "specimen" then one of them catches my eye. It reads:

The specimen was found on November 3rd, 2004 in an Antarctica temple. The origins of the temple remain unknown. The specimen is theorized to either be an undiscovered species, or something extraterrestrial. The key to researching its origins has to lie with the eggs it produces, since its blood samples are much too dangerous and unpredictable to study.

   "Antarctica?"
   "Eggs?"
   "Temple?"
I knew that the guys in the science division were kinda odd, but just what the hell were they keeping in this lab?! I put the papers down in what I believe was their correct places, then quickly turn to leave.
   Then the door knob turns.
I duck under the control panel, behind the black swivel chair.
The door slowly creaks open, a man in a lab coat steps inside. I can't see his face, only his black shoes. He walks up to the panel. I can hear him hum a little.
I hold my breath. I cover my mouth with both hands.
I hear some buttons being pressed, then a loud whirring sound.
"Ah, still awake?" He coos. "Good. We've got big plans for you."
More buttons being pressed, then the sound of a loud ZAPP!
A roar shakes the ground. I hold in a gasp.
"Don't think I don't know about that little incident. The man you killed? He was a good person."
   Another ZAPP. Another roar.
The man grumbles. "It seems the only thing you can do right nowadays is murder innocents."
He lets out a loud, irritated sigh then strolls out of the room through the same door he came from.
I crawl out, then turn around to face the black wall. Except it's not a wall. It's a giant window.
And on the other side, is a colossal alien that looked like the one from the forest.
