I can't believe I'm doing this.
Once the oomans eyes widen, I pretend to aim at her, slicing the rope. The second ooman squeals as he falls to the ground. A second later, both of their heat signatures have disappeared.
Ya'ste shoves me out of his way and looks around, whipping his head wildly. I hear his signature infuriated growl.
He turns to me, "What did you do?!!"
I clear my throat then reply, "I missed." My throat tightens.
Ya'ste stomps up to me, "YOU cost me my PREY!! Do you have ANY idea what the elders will do to you once they find OUT?!!"
"It wasn't on purpose!" I shout back. "The elders won't do anything!"
"You sound so sure given you're a FAILURE!" He spits out the last word.
My vision becomes red and slightly blurred. My fists clench and before I know it, I swipe at him. Thank Paya my claws didn't connect.
"DON'T CALL ME THAT!! My father failed, not me! You'll see, everyone on Prime will!"
Usually, Ya'ste would either swipe back or just tackle anyone who dared to attack him or yell at him. I must be special or something since instead he just says, "We'll see alright. We'll see me arrive on Prime haven completed the mission with a few trophies to show for it." I can hear his stupid smirk. "All the while, you continue wallowing in your father's shadow. I can't wait."
Both my fists jiggle with rage. I want so bad to beat him till his 'prized helm' cracks into pieces. Instead I stay silent till my anger somewhat subsides.
"You seem less irritable now, good. Let's just find that serpent and it's queen already so I won't have to deal with you anymore. Understand?!"
I nod at him, wishing he could see my hate - filled eyes. He nods then leaps on ahead of me. I sigh in both frustration and relief.
At least he didn't get the ooman.
I feel like hurling myself off a cliff as I catch up to him.
