I stare up at his large, scaly green hand. His claws look sharp enough to tear right through my skin with just a single graze. But, somehow, I know they won't.
I carefully put my hand in his, my skin just barely touching his claws. They feel like cold steel, yet his hand is the warmest thing I've ever felt.
Before I know it, he pulls me to my feet and clicks to me.
"Um, yeah, I'm fine." I wipe off my shirt.
He tilts his head toward the door.
Does he want me to follow him?
"Uh, ok. S - sure."
Being escorted out of here by an alien. Guess it's not the weirdest thing to happen to me.
He pushes the door open and I follow, ignoring the guy on the floor who I hope to God will pass out and wake up thinking this was all just a dream.
And what if he doesn't? Shit.
Me and Bear traverse through the winding halls and labs till we finally reach the outside. I stare out and at the base. My barrack.
I can't go back. Not after being caught seeing something I obviously wasn't supposed to. Not after what I've seen. Not after what that that man saw. I'll be screwed if I stay.
I'll be severely punished, or transfered somewhere or killed.
"Um, Bear?"
Funnily enough, he actually reacts to the nickname I've given him. He grunts.
"Uh, if you can understand me, I need something from you."
What am I doing?
"You see, I'm kinda in big trouble right now.."
Am I asking an alien to help me?!
"Maybe you could...just...make sure I'm safe? For a while?"
There's no way he'll agree.
There's a strong, agonizing silence. A trill of clicks comes from his helmet. His fists clench.
Probably shouldn't have asked.
"Um, hey, you don't have to...I could just - "
I small scream escapes my throat as I'm suddenly whisked into the air. My body presses against something hard and muscley while something holds me in place.
I look down and see that I'm a few feet off the ground. I look up and nearly bang my head against Bear's helmet.
Oh my God. He's holding me!
Surely enough, my body is bent over his shoulder, my arms dangling against his strong back. My knees are being held down by his hand.
"Bear?! Where are you - "
Suddenly his knees bend. Then, in a gust of wind, we soar off.
