Thunderstorm

I almost feel like screaming as the mud soaks into my boots and pants while the rain hammers down on my skin like a million needles. My once poofy hair is now a bunch of stringy wet tendrils sticking to my face. And my fingers have become wrinkly from the wetness.
  God, I fucking hate rain.
There's a clap of thunder in the distance, as if this night couldn't get any worse.
First I'm separated and alone, There's two monsters out there who probably want to kill me, Jeremy is probably dead and I'm soaking wet!
I deck the tree I'm hiding under, then collapse to my knees. I stare at my knuckles, watching the blood trickle down then get washed away. I sigh.
I lean my back against the tree, head in my arms and knees. I wish I had brought a blanket with me.
I force back tears and just try to listen out for any signs of those things being around. I pray it's not that big black thing.
As for that big creature I ran into at the lake...maybe he wouldn't be bad to have around. After all, he didn't kill me. And the way it hesitated, glancing back at me, when it took the head of that bear.
Bear. Has a nice ring to it.
I quietly nibble on some of the food I packed, then get back up to look around.
The storm still hasn't subsided, but I can't just sit here and wait to get killed. I need to find one of the other groups, or Jeremy, or whoever will help me. I sling my soggy backpack onto my shoulders then reach down for my gun, then hesitate.
Thinking back, in both situations when I was face - to - face with Bear I was disarmed.
Is that why he didn't kill me?
I take my gun anyway in case I run in with the other creature and head off into the woods. I use my flashlight to navigate through the dark forest, weaving through low hanging branches and trudging through massive mud puddles.
So far, I've heard nothing amongst the pounding sound of rain.
Until, far into the darkness, there's a shrill clicking noise.
  Then a scream.
