The next day, August woke up to her mother and grandmother fighting again. Jet, against all the rules, jumped up on the bed and layed next to August. The door didn't muffle this argument this time, and she could hear it all.

"You don't know what you're saying!" Jade yells.

"So you're telling me there is seriously no cure for this?!" Ethel yells back, "Have you even tried?"

"Have I even tried?" Jade broke out into a sob, "Do you even know how hurtful you are being, mother?! Of course I have tried everything!"

"So she's going to have to live as this monster for the rest of her life?"

"MY DAUGHTER IS NOT A MONSTER!" Jade yelled through a sob, Jet put his head on August's stomach, and whined. "I have done everything to make sure August lives a painless life, but there are some things that I can not control. Do you think I want this for her!? Like I don't pray every night to switch spots with her. For 13 years I have had to watch my daughter experience excruciating pain. I have watched my daughter's bones break and her skin tear because of this. I wish I could take this pain away from her, I wish I could cure her. But no one can. August will forever be stuck with this."

Ethel sighs "How could you have let this even happen."

There was a crash that caused both August and Jet to jump off the bed and run to the door. But both August and Jet felt a wave of power push them away from the door, and then heard the door lock from the outside. Down stairs, a broken vase laid on the floor next to an unbothered Ethel. Ethel is standing there, head in the air like she didnt care.

"I was asleep." Jade sobbed, falling to her knees, "When I heard her screaming, it was too late. I tried to kill that man, I used an unforgivable on him. But I missed. I have spent 13 years beating myself up for that. I missed him because my hands couldn't stop shaking because all I could hear was my child crying for me."

"Well how did he find you anyways? I thought you were in a safe house. Remus put you in a safe house when he left for his mission for this reason." Ethel said, "That's what you told me before you went into hiding. You said he was going on a mission with other werewolves, and he wanted you safe."

"One of my best friends." Jade paused, "Someone I considered my best friend betrayed me. I didn't know at the time, not until I found out what he did to Lily."

August turned to Jet.

"Sirius." August whispered, "Professor Lupin knew me as a baby?"

Jet stayed as a dog

"Who was my mom's best friend?"

Sirius transformed and sighed, "Remus asked our friend Peter to be your secret keeper, because I was already the Potters."

"Peter is died now. I know you didnt kill him, I trust you on that. But- d-did my mom kill him?"

"No," Sirius shook his head, "Your mother didnt kill him, he isn't dead."

"I don't understand." August walked away from the door, "Why would he betray my mother."

"He betrayed everyone, I didn't know Remus asked Peter to be your secret keeper. If I knew, I wouldn't have asked him to be the Potters either."

Sirius sighed, "Peter knew what Remus' biggest fear was."

"I thought you were their secret keeper. That's what everyone is saying."

"I thought Remus was a spy, and I knew Voldemort was on to me so I asked Peter without anyone knowing. That was my mistake. Your mother didnt tell me that Peter was your secret keeper. She didn't know he did it until I told her about the Potters."
