The three of them wondered, greatly, about how everyone thought it would be okay to let the three of them live on their own for the time being. None of them knew how to cook a proper meal. Of course, Remus and Jade stopped by every night to check on them. Jade would cook them dinner, and make sure the laundry was washed. But the ministry was watching them like hawks, and they could never stay the night. According to the Ministry, August was away in America at a camp for children with lycanthropy and she was to return on the date of her hearing at the end of the summer. Which meant, August was on house arrest or taking polyjuice potions if she had to leave the house. They did the latter because no one could keep her trapped in the house. They couldn't do that to her. She hadn't left yet, she was too scared to leave.
"What are you doing?" August came up behind Sirius one morning. He kept trying to push the lever on the toaster down, but it would keep popping up.
"It's broken," Sirius groaned.
"No, you're just an idiot." August snorted into her mug.
"What am I doing wrong?" Sirius asked
"Everything." August smiled. "Sirius, this house was built by blood supremacists..."
"I know that," Sirius said.
"There is nothing muggle about this house." August pointed out, "You have no outlets."
"Outlets?" Sirius questioned, "Is that an add-on? Harry didn't ask me if he needed to buy one. Do you think I have one in any of these drawers, we can use?"
August's head flew back, laughing. "No, I don't think we will find running electricity in one of your drawers."
"Is this what this snake thing is?" He lifted the cord, "I thought it was decoration."
"No," August laughed, "If you want toast, just use the oven."
"I was making you the toast." He beamed, "I know I'm not great at it, but I think I've watched your mum enough."
"I'm not hungry," August shrugged, "I was actually going to go back to sleep."
"Are you sure?" Sirius asked, "I can make eggs or anything. Maybe Harry can pop down to the shop and grab that milk soup thing you like."
"Cereal?" August giggled, "I'm okay, I promise."
She began to leave the kitchen when Harry walked in.
"You eating breakfast with us?" Harry yawned
"Already did." She lied, looking at Sirius.
"Will you atleast come down for dinner tonight?" Sirius asked, "I think Harry is getting tired of my stories."
"Sure," August said, looking at the two and then left.
Once she got into her room, her desk was filled with letters from everyone. A few from Cass, Adrian, and Monty. A few from Neville, Angie, Alicia, Katie, and Fred. And then most of them were from George. George must've written her over 50 times. She just pushed them all into an empty drawer and closed it and got into bed. She looked around her room and then yelled for Sirius. He came running up with his wand at the ready.
"What?" He said out of breath, "What's wrong."
"Can you do it?" She asked, looking at him. She was hugging her knees against her. His shoulders dropped and he flicked his wand at the closet, swinging it open. "Aparecium" he mumbled at her closet, no one was in there.
"No one is here, August." He told her, "No one can get in."
"You promise?"
"We put up a protection charm around the house," Sirius sat at the edge of her bed, placing her hand on her leg, "Only us and the Order can get in, I promise you. You're safe."
