August did not speak to Harry the whole way back to the common room. When they got to the portrait, she ignored the Fat Lady, "Why?" She asked, "You knew I wanted this."
"Moon, I didn't! I swear!"
"It's very hard to believe you right now," She said, she couldn't seem to look him in the eyes, "You expect me to believe that some other person did it? Why would a student risk being expelled for a joke like this, not even the twins would do this? Do this to me..."
"August, please believe me."
"I need to be alone, Harry." August sighed, "I just wanted this for myself, for once."
The blast of noise that met August's ears when the portrait opened almost knocked her backward. Next thing she knew, she was being wrenched inside the common room by about a dozen pairs of hands and was facing the whole of Gryffindor House, all of whom were screaming, applauding, and whistling.
"I KNEW IT!" George yelled, engulfing her in a hug and spinning her around. Fred noticed Harry behind her.
"You should've told us you'd entered!" bellowed Fred; he looked half annoyed, half deeply impressed. "Warning, Ron is a little upset."
"I figured..." Harry said, looking at the back of August's head.
"Yeah, got to admit it, Harry." Fred sighed, "Kind of lame that you did, August was really excited."
"But I didn't enter!"
"Well you were chosen," Fred still had an annoyed look on his face, but smiled, "no turning back now, eh?"
"MOON!" Angelina had run down from the girl's dorm, "I'M SO PROUD OF YOU!" She hugged the girl.
"We've got food, Harry, come and have some —"
"I'm not hungry, I had enough at the feast —" he sighed, "I'm going to bed.."
August looked behind her at him and he smiled at her with a guilty look and pleading eyes.
"You're the real Hogwarts Champion." He sent her a comforting smile.
"SHE SURE IS THE HOGWARTS CHAMPION!" George laughed, picking her up on his and Fred's shoulder, and marching her around the room.
The next morning, she sluggishly got out of bed and got dressed. She had drank way too much the night before, but she was still vibrating with excitement. She and Angelina walked downstairs and saw the Twins and Lee waiting for them.
"Did that actually happen, last night?"
"What? You getting pissed on drinks or becoming the Hogwarts Champion?" George smiled.
"Both?" She laughed
"Hell yeah, it did."
"Here." Lee threw her a vial of liquid, "for the hangover."
"Oh, thank god." She downed the bottle.
"Oi, Moon got a howler!" Someone yelled in the great hall. The owls had just delivered the morning mail.
"Uh oh..." Lee cringed. In terrible handwriting, August's name was sprawled across the envelope with her mother's name in the corner.
"I am going to guess that, McGonagall wrote to her last night." August sighed, picking the red envelope up.
She looked up at her friends, "Kind of scared." She giggled. She stretched out a shaking hand, eased the envelope from their family owl's beak, and slit it open. Neville stuffed his fingers in his ears. You would have thought for a moment it had exploded; a roar of sound filled the huge hall, shaking the dust from the ceiling.
