Python'Snap stretched out her front paws up in the air, and flipped onto her back.
"Wake up it's time for dawn patrol." Birch'Fall whispered, nudging Python'Snap's ear with his cheek.
"I know- I know." She yawned, opening her eyes and whacking Birch'Fall with her paw.
Python'Snap sat up in her nest, and yawned, and stood up before trotting out of the den.
The morning sun glared down on her brown pelt.
"Clan Meeting..." Adder'Star called, who looked like she was about to start tearing up.
"Today, we honor Blossom'Foot, who died fighting a mountain lion. Cream'Paw told me he was attacked, and she had saved his life. The rest is unknown. I shall say our medicine apprentice is now the medicine cat. Please welcome Violet'Leap." She continued.
"Patrols for today will be said now. And Python'Snap may dismiss the meeting" Adder'Star went into her den.
"Today's hunting patrols will be... Pine'Snout and Clover'Pool." Python'Snap looked to the cats.
"And can Gray'Fire and Twig'Strike take border patrol?" She said again.
The cats nodded.
"Alrighty! Meeting dismissed then." Python'Snap yawned, before stretching her paws forward and let the warmth of the morning sun-light soak into her pelt.
Birch'Fall came padding forward and sat down next to her. "Mornin'!" He yawned, his whisker's twitching.
"Morning Birch'Fall!" She replied.
"What are we gonna do today?" Birch'Fall wondered.
"Perhaps we can hunt down by the river? or we could go and collect flowers?" She replied.
"Those sounds good! We can do whatever." Birch'Fall responded.
"well-" Python'Snap paused and looked through the crowd which had gathered at the entrance.
"What in the world-" She soon saw Clover'Pool as she whisked inside, dragging Pine'Snout behind her.
"You mouse-brain! You almost died!" Clover'Pool glared at Pine'Snout who had wounds on his hind legs.
Violet'Leap padded over quickly to see what was wrong.
"What in Star-Clan happened!?" Violet'Leap chirped as she shuffled through the crowd of cats.
"Two words. Rabid foxes." Clover'Pool looked from Violet'Leap to Pine'Snout.
"Oh--Come with me I'll get some Burdock Root and Cobwebs" Violet'Leap chirped and walked with Pine'Snout to the medicine den.
"Okay. Everyone has that under control. Birch'Fall want to go pick flowers or hunting?" Python'Snap asked as Pine'Snout's tail disappeared into the den.
"O-h... maybe flower picking today?" Birch'Fall chirped.
"Alrighty then!" Python'Snap said, leaping down off the rock.
Birch'Fall leapt off and landed next to her.
The two walked out of the camp to the flower field where the morning sun was rising.
"So, what's your favorite flower? I like the columbine." Python'Snap smiled as she picked a few columbines and then put them together in front of her.
"Oh- I like Yellow Pond-lilys," Birch'Fall sat down next to Python'Snap smiling at her.
Python'Snap scooped the flowers up and made a small pile of them.
"Can I tell you something..?" Birch'Fall asked quietly.
"Sure. What's up?" Python'Snap replied, as she looked towards Birch'Fall, and looked back down at the patch of flowers, her heart fluttering and twisting in her chest.
"I can't wait any longer- I've been trying wanting to tell you for a very- very long time about this. . I uhm. . like you. " Birch'Fall held his breath.
Python'Snap's ears perked, her heart pounding as she processed the information. "Birch'Fall. I like you too."
Birch'Fall's eyes widened, and a loud purr erupted from his throat as he let out a sigh in relief. "Seriously?"
Python'Snap nodded, smiling, her stomach churning when she looked at him in the eyes.
Birch'Fall leaned against her, and rested his muzzle on Python'Snap's head. "Am I allowed to say I love you?" He laughed.
"Of course, goofball." Python'Snap replied, wrapping her tail around his.
Birch'Fall smiled. "Alright." He said, giving her a quick lick on the ear.
Python'Snap yawned and looked up at the sun which was climbing up the mountain. "We should go back."
"Yeah." Birch'Fall agreed.
Python'Snap stood up and padded back to camp, Birch'Fall not too far behind her.
Birch'Fall stopped at the tunnel's entrance.
"Who should we tell? Or should we keep it between us?" Birch'Fall whispered.
"You can tell whoever you want." She replied.
"Alrighty." He smiled.
The two padded forward into the tunnel, and into the camp.
~The afternoon sun crept up the sky and filtered through the trees making a glowing green blanket among the gray mountains. ~
