Geez! What the heck is with Sunny and Knox. First, they run to the front of the school like their lives depended on it, then Knox gets mad for no apparent reason, and now neither of them are texting me! I continued thinking to myself. And they're looking out the window like something interesting is going on and they're not telling me something!!! ARRGGGGHHHH!!!! I looked up as our homeroom teacher, Mrs. Braxton, started talking.

"Today, class, we have a transfer student from Bhutan. C'mon in young man, and please introduce yourself to the class." She gestured at the door. A boy who looked about seventeen walked in. He was lightly tan and had blond hair and sky blue eyes. Almost at once, I felt like I knew him and that I hated his guts, despite the fact that I didn't know him and I had no reason to hate any internal organ of his. While I was glaring at the new kid, he introduced himself.

"Um. Hullo. I'm Taris Sage and I'm seventeen human years," everyone laughed at this and I hated him even more. He's trying to be a funny guy on the first day the numbskull. "I'm very happy to meet you all." I rolled my eyes. Very happy my very cute behind. I was about to text Sunny and Knox to see what they thought of this guy when I remembered that they pulled out of the conversation! ARGH! How annoying! The boys in the class were looking at Mrs. Braxton to try to get the new kid to sit at their table and the girls were eyeing him and giggling. Whatever, he doesn't have to sit at our table; he could sit wherever he wants.

"Why don't you go and sit at Melody's table? She's just a darling you know?"

I hate you Mrs. Braxton. I hate being a teacher's pet. I hate this I hate this IhatethisIhatethisIhatethis.

The new kid nodded like he knew she was going to say that and came over to our table and smiled at Knox who was looking at him like he was a lost platypus in Greenland and Sunny was giving him the same kind of look. I glanced at the boy again. He didn't look odd and he wasn't doing anything weird.

WHAT ODD LOOKS CAN MEAN LIST

1.      He looks weird

2.      He is doing something weird

3.      He isn't supposed to be here

4.      What kinda t-shirt is that?

5.      He has lettuce stuck in his teeth

6.      I know this kid

7.       He looks like someone I know

I went over my list a couple times and decided to wait until lunch to find an answer. In the meantime I should find out more about this guy. I shift casually in my seat and was about to ask a question when Knox suddenly blurts out, "What the hell are you doing here?!"

"I knew you knew who he was!" was the responding exclamation from Sunny.

"Da hell are you guys talking about?!?!" was my confused comment.

Knox shifted uncomfortably in her seat and, for the weirdest reason that irritated me so much. Her very presence just annoyed me and I couldn't figure out why. Knox was my friend, why did I feel like I didn't like her anymore? I looked at the new boy and Knox and something hit me, like a wave of realization. They both looked almost identical. They were both tall and lean, with the same eyes and even tans. They must be related was my first thought.

"Are you two cousins or something?" asked Sunny, echoing my thoughts. Knox frantically shook her head and continued to look towards the boy for an explanation. He shrugged and said, "I told you that I'd talk to you today, so here I am." "Are you guys long lost siblings or something?" Sunny asked again impatiently, "I didn't know Knox had a sibling in Bhutan. Or is he, like, a really young uncle?" Knox sighed and the boy raised an eyebrow. "We're not related," he said, "At all." That shut Sunny up. She looked form the boy to Knox and back to the boy. "Bu-but you look so- I don't." Then Sunny's eyes drifted to Knox's arm and she stared at it for a very long time until Knox got even more uncomfortable and shifted in her seat again. The boy started to talk to Knox again, "I see your friend is very... inquisitive." I snorted, that was the understatement of the year. His eyes slowly turned to me, "but I didn't know you liked fish." He said with a tone that could equal disgust. "I like sushi." Knox said with a very confused tone and the boy laughed. I surveyed the situation. Sunny was looking like someone from CSI when the criminal profiler is trying to figure out something, Knox looked very pleased with her sushi comment, and I felt like punching someone in the gut. The bell rang, signaling the next period. I had gym, we were going to the pool today and we all had to wear uniformed swim suits.

Today was off to a great start.
