“Agggghhhh how much farther must we go? What if we bump into some tourists and they see five kids in matching white coats? What if they call the cops on us or something?” I whined. In all honesty I wasn’t tired or out of breath, in fact, I was feeling quite good. I always did seem stronger in winter than in summer and my winter sports are quite awesome. Aside from swimming, skating is one of my best sports. The line we were walking in suddenly stopped and I bumped my nose on the back of Knox’s coat.
“Owwwwww…” I complained, “Why did we just suddenly stop?” I looked up to the front of the line where Sunny was looking back and forth. It was pitch black in the mountain and the only light came from hot-head’s and Knox’s sparkly bow which cast a silvery light on everyone. Sunny looked back to Taris with a confused expression on her face, “Th-the trail divides here.”
“What?” he asked.
“The trail goes two ways,” she pointed to the left and in front of her, “One keeps going forward and one turns left. I think we need to split up.”
“How do we split up, you’re the only one who knows where she’s going.” Taris asked, frustrated.
“The trail going forward just keeps going, so it shouldn’t be that hard to follow,” she turned to face him, “Alright blondie, you’re the supposed leader here, you pick the groups.” Taris bit his lip. I looked to my left and tried to make out where Sunny was looking at, but aside from the bow’s light, it was dark, “Uh, ok. You, Semba, and Knox go to the left and the fish and I will go forwards.” I almost found myself nodding along until I realized what he said.
We were going forward?
Just us?
Alone?
I was just about to argue this, but the left-going group had already gone. I mentally smack myself for not reacting sooner.
“So, I see you want to spend some quality time with me huh?” I grumbled at him as we continued walking forward. Now that Knox was gone, the light had gotten a bit dimmer and it was getting hard to see.
“Pffft. Please.”
“Then why did you divide the groups up like this?”
“Because as much I don’t like it, it makes sense.”
“Please elaborate for me.” My voice was dripping with sarcasm.
“Sunny knows where she’s going, so obviously she goes left. Semba and Knox are both Luminosity, so that makes for two ‘elements’. You’re a fish and I’m a luminosity, so that’s two elements on this side too. Besides, I’m more advanced that both Knox and Semba combined, so they had to go together and I feel more secure sending more people to protect Sunny if anything happens.”
“Except if you’re more powerful than both Knox and Semba, it would make more sense if you went with her and I went with Knox and Semba.” I contradicted.
“Right, but since we’re opposite ‘elements’ we can guard each other better.” He argued and I laughed at the statement, “Are you saying I might actually be more than a fish after all?”
“Nah. You’re still a fish.”
“In that case can I be a tuna fish?”
“Whatever, as long as you’re not a jellyfish.”
“Why not a jellyfish?”
No response.
I gasped in a shocked way, “Don’t tell me the big bad hot head is afraid of a wittle jewyfish.”
