Wow, I hated this place.
I was back, floating in the darkness watching a piece of paper that depicted a war scene that I could only assume was what was happening in the present.
The I remember who I followed in here.
"Caprin?" I called out, "Hello? Here goaty goaty goaty." I called, trying to bleat.
I heard a groan and looked towards the sound. Caprin was lying on the ground, ironically in a clay prison, " You know I'm not actually a goat right?" he asked and tried to sit up. I floated (swam? walked? it's hard to explain) towards him.
"And that's not how a goat bleats" he added.
"Well, you would know." I replied.
Caprin sat up, wincing and I saw that he had a silver mark running down his chest.
"What happened?" I asked, looking over my shoulder, feeling like I was being watched. Caprin laughed bitterly.
"Eh, well, Virgo has a bit of a talent when it comes to spotting deception. As soon as we were out of the cave, she called me out and-" he gestured to the silver mark, "quite literally pulled the truth out of me."
"Oh." I managed and tried to reach between the bars.
And was knocked flat on my behind.
A traitor
A liar
Deserves it
Deserves Moreeee
The whispers started around me.
"Ah geez, not again." I whimpered, have I mentioned that I hated the whispers?
A knife suddenly appeared, floating in my vision.
Two choices
Kill
Leave Him
The knife was forced into my hand
KIll and we'll show you the light
Leave and we'll spare you're friends
The whispers got louder and I felt myself forced towards Caprin's cage, knife at his throat.
I gritted my teeth, "let me go, I'm not doing this." I said, but only heard soft laughter around me.
Two choices
No choice
Kill
Leave
I closed my eyes. The whispers seemed benevolent, but they weren't. They had a force of ancient evil hanging on them.
"It's ok Sunny," I heard Caprin say, "If this will end it, then it's worth it."
Kill
Leave
No Choice
I opened my eyes to see Caprin leaning forwards and I slapped him away.
"Stop that." I said.
"Why should I? Why does it matter? You can end this so easily!" he yelled and yanked my hand to his throat, "Just do it dammit!"
Kill
Just a little closer I thought
Leave
A little more I thought, using my senses and my vision more than ever before
No choice
"Didn't I already tell you scrubs," I started raising my knife, "I choose option three!" I screamed defiantly and brought down the knife on the air in front of me. Suddenly, a ghostly grey apparition screamed and the bars on Caprin's clay prison broke.
"How did you-?" he started, but couldn't finish as the apparition grew bigger and angrier. It had two holes like an abyss that stared out with a glowing gold light in the middle of what I assumed was a forehead.
"It's not dead yet?" he yelled, dodging a blow and looking at me.
"I'm better with a spoon!" I yelled back and threw the knife towards the light, but missed completely and I stared as the knife cluttered to the floor. The apparition sweeped back (laughing?) and Caprin ducked its blow and grabbed the knife. He took my hand.
"Together?" I asked and held the knife taught.
"Together." he nodded and we threw the knife.
The apparition screamed and golden light flooded the complete darkness around us. Suddenly, we were in the middle of what looked like a war zone. I saw Knox and Taris holding off an army of bug monsters while Melody and Semba battled the Gemini twins. All the fighting stopped as everyone stared up at us. I was still floating a bit and moved forwards, butting my hand on the ghoul's forehead.
"Restore." I said and the light flickered and glowed.
And we plummeted to the ground.
