It was currently 5pm, I had just got out of the shower and was now stood in front of my wardrobe debating on what to wear, I wanted to be noticed but somehow fit in with the rest of the people.
I had decided on a pleated black and white skirt, along with a white turtle neck with a black thin strap top over it, a belt around my waist, I put on some necklaces to go with the look and my black boots combined with black thigh high socks, I sat in front of my mirror, brushing out my hair and left it as it was, applying my mascara, eye liner and lip gloss, I left the room and went down the stairs, Eddie said he would pick me up at 6:30 so I had about 20 minutes to just sit in the kitchen, as I made my way into the kitchen i saw Mike and Dustin sitting by the table eating cookies with a glass of milk. "What's up boys?" I took a seat, taking one of the cookies. "Why do you look like that?" Mike scrunched his face up and I rolled my eyes. "Because I'm going to a party." He looks at me before looking at Dustin. "You're invited to a party?" Mike snorts and I slapped the back of his head lightly before flipping him off. "Surprise, I'm not a dork like you." He scoffs, his hand over his chest. "You're more nerdy than I am, you literally always have a book in your hands plus you put in so much effort in your schoolwork, i could never." I rolled my eyes grabbing his glass of milk.
"Hey stop taking my things." He slapped my hand and I laughed, taking a sip of it. "Shutup Michael." Dustin laughed looking between us, a bright smile on his face, the kid was adorable if I was completely honest. A loud honk came from outside and I went to look through the kitchen window to see Eddie's van. "You're going with Eddie?" Mike says in disbelief, standing behind me and peeking over my shoulder. "His my ride, I'm meeting up with Steve when we get there." I grab my handbag off the counter and Mike follows me. "So you're friends with him now?" He asks, leaning against the doorway. "Yeah, sort of, bye losers." I walked out the front door, shutting the door behind me, speed walking to the van as Eddie leaned over and opened the door for me.
I hopped in the van greeting Eddie with a small side hug, the drive was silent and I spent the entire time staring out the window. "I'm just going to my dealers house." He mutters and I only now realize that we were driving down an unfamiliar part of Hawkins, I knew the road but I couldn't pin point where it leads to, I only knew the paths I used in Hawkins but Steve has pretty much showed me the entire town. "You mind getting me something strong?" I joked and he glanced over at me, "I'm not buying you drugs Isabella." The finality in his voice brought a frown upon my face as his entire mood shifted. "I was only joking" I looked over to him who had now pursed his lips, looking on the road and only the road.
About 15 minutes has gone by and I had been looking out the window at the trees passing by extremely fast that I was beginning to feel nauseous, I had to look away after a while and now noticed that we were pulling up to a familiar place.
Ahh, lovers lake.
The scene infront of me had my breath taken away, the lake was still with the tall trees behind it, the sunset reflected on the water making it look a mixture of orange and pink, I stared up at the sky and noticed how beautiful the sunset was. "Stay here." Eddie grumbled, getting out and walking into a nearby house, the houses here were stunning, the docks extended onto the lake and there were a couple on one of them on the further side of the lake, the guy was sat with a fishing rod in his one hand and the girl was sat beside him, his other hand on her leg with a beer can, both of them smiled happily, jealousy, I felt jealous at the thought that it could have been me sat there with him if I never had to leave, I got out the van and made my way to the water, kneeling down infront of it, my hand in the water making small splashes, unknowingly a smile had creeped onto my face, I noticed a small flat rock laid down next to me and picked it up, skidding it across the lake watching it in triumph as it skipped three times before sinking, I shut my eyes tightly as he invaded my mind once again, he had taught me how to skip stones and he used to take me to the small lake we had in our town, Bedford was a small and quiet place and mostly looked like a ghost town, but James had his way of making things interesting for us, he'd take a tent and some supplies and make me camp with him near the lake during summer.
