I was sitting on my bed with all kinds of thoughts clouding my mind. After finding out the truth, I had just ran out of the school and back home to have some time for myself. There was no denying it anymore; Chan was a vampire. All those stories that were telling about the myths of Vampires and Werewolves were suddenly reality and alone the thought let a shiver run down my spine. It was already dark outside when I then heard a knock on the door, causing my train of thoughts to be interrupted when I rushed down the stairs. My mom and my sister were out today, leaving me in the house alone when I thought that Thalia had come to see me after I had just disappeared and hadn't texted her.
But once I opened the door, I was met with the person I expected to see the least. Chan.
He looked a bit conflicted as his smile was not as bright as usual and his brows were slightly knitted.
"Nova"
"Chan"
"Let me... explain myself" he hesitated to speak when I gulped but nodded eventually, stepping to the side for him to enter but he never did.
"Oh, right" I remembered a thing that I had read on the website that Thalia had shown me. Vampires needed permission to enter a house or else they would be stuck outside. I wasn't sure if it was the best idea to just let him step inside, but he never did anything to give me a reason to not trust him. Well, except for hiding his true identity. But if I was one of them, I wouldn't exactly tell every person I came across with that I was a blood sucking creature, so I couldn't really blame him, "come inside"
And that he did, stepping inside and looking around for a moment when I led him to the living room where we sat across each other.
I could clearly tell that he was a bit uncomfortable or rather hesitant to say anything about what I was pretty sure he was here to talk about.
"Sooo... you're not here to kill me because I know about... it, right?" I asked, fiddling with my fingers when Chan let out a small laugh and shook his head.
"No, of course not," he started, then looked up into my eyes, "I just want to clear things up"
"How about I ask you what I want to know and you have to give me an honest answer" I suggested, getting a nod from the male who seemed for comfortable this way than to just be like 'oh yes, I'm a vampire btw', so I started to question him, starting with the probably most bold question I had ever asked.
"Are you a vampire?"
"...yes"
"How old are you?"
"19"
"For how long have you been 19 already?"
( Twilight who? )"For 125 years"
"Have you... ever killed anybody?"
"..."
"Okay dumb question. Next one; are Jeongin and Jisung vampires as well?"
"They are"
"What about the other two friends that you talked about?"
"Ah, Minho and Hyunjin. They... are also vampires"
"Okay, well... can I trust you?" I asked, looking at the male with a serious gaze when a small smile adored his lips once again.
"You can," he reassured before explaining his answer, "Me and the other two have been living off animals blood for quite a time now. We consider ourselves vegetarian in some way, so we are no harm to humans"
I was surprised at his statement, amazed at how he willingly switched to animal blood only in order to protect the humans around him when we can properly all agree that humans suck. "What about the two who aren't here?"
He haltet for a moment before just shaking his head, hoping that I'll get the message what I clearly did. It was probably the reason they weren't here together; because these tho were not exactly valuing a human life how it seemed.
"It's better that they aren't here and I hope they won't return any time soon... though I can't be so sure about that" Chan spoke when I gulped at the statement, not really being able to imagine the chaos that would be provided.
"Does anyone else know about what you are?" I asked when the male shook his head before stopping in his tracks.
"Well, not exactly, but the founder's council do know about the existence of vampires" he explained when a lot of other things suddenly made sense as well. Thalia's mother was the sheriff of our town and also part of the council — giving a reason as to why she had giftet Wolfsbane to her. "But I hope you won't go around and tell everyone about what we are" he added.
"What if I do?" I just asked out of curiosity.
"Then I'd have no other choice than to erase your memory of what we talked about just now" he answered, causing me to learn things I didn't knew about before.
"You can do that?"
"We can play with people's minds — letting them forget things or do stuff that we want them to"
His reasoning was surprising me even more, even though there should be nothing anymore that could have me in disbelief after learning that Vampires were a real thing.
"I see, so you must really lay your trust into me then, huh?" I quietly asked, a small smile on my lips when I thought about it. He could have easily let me forget about what he is if he wanted to, but decided to trust me with the secret he had been keeping and basically putting his life here on the line. If I were to tell the council, I'm sure they would try to get rid of him and the others.
"I just feel like the secret is save with you. Jeongin and Jisung gave their permission as well of course, or I wouldn't be here right now" he said when my smile only widened.
"What about Thalia?" I then questioned the last thing on my mind when Chan sighed for a moment before answering.
"She knows as well and I don't think that she's gonna tell anybody, so I guess she can keep that memory. And besides, knowing all this would be to her own good"
"Her own good? How comes?"
"She's always around that boy, Changbin, was it?"
"Uh, yea. What about it?"
"He's a werewolf"
