I had never seen Chan that mad

I had never seen Chan that mad. Neither Jisung nor Jeongin who suddenly stood in front of us with their fangs shown and eyes glowing with a ruby tint in them. My heartbeat had long increased to an unusual fast pace after what just happened and I was pretty sure that the others heard it, for that there was literally nothing they could not hear.

"How amusing," I heard Hyunjin say, his expression not faltering after literally being thrown against a wall, "you all three trying to protect the little kitten? How much more exiting do you want to make it for me?" He laughed when Chan's grip around me only tightened.

"You two better go back to where you came from" Jisung spat, seemingly not all too happy with the two being here when Minho didn't said a single thing and instead just jolted his bones back in place after some were probably dislocated due to his body colliding with multiple things just moment ago.

"And who are you to decide where I can stay and where not?" The blonde asked, his nerves nearing their limit when his smile seemed to be strained and veins started to get visible on his pale skin.

"Either you stop causing trouble or you leave. The news about animal attacks are getting suspicious and the founders council has probably found out long ago that vampires are in the city again. You wouldn't want to get caught by them, now do you?" Jeongin reasoned, his body still not the slightest bit relaxed when he was ready to strike any moment just in case one of the two would try anything funny.

"Ugh, you guys need to calm down and relax," Hyunjin groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose before his grin returned and he let out a small laugh, "maybe it'll help to stay a bit inside to think things over" he said, raising his hand where he proudly showed three rather antic looking rings. I didn't really had a clue on what that was supposed to mean, but seeing how the three boys who were protecting me had looked down at their hands in shock and anger, made it clear that Hyunjin had just snatched them away.

I never really paid attention to the rings the boys wore but now it proved to be of more importance than I thought.

"Maybe Nova can get them back for you~" was all he said before he vanished in front of our eyes together with Minho who stayed silent till the end.

"Shit" Jisung snapped, running his hands through his hair when the significant vampire features vanished and left him looking just like the ordinary boy he usually pretended to be, just like the other two did.

"Are you okay? Did they hurt you?" Chan then asked when he released me to examine by body, looking for even the tiniest scratch when the other two boys seemed a bit concerned as well.

"I'm good, they didn't do anything," I said, slowly calming down myself when I took in a breath and looked at each of them, "what's with that rings of yours? Why did he take them?" I asked, figuring that it was a bit more important to know at the moment.

Sharing a look, the three sighed before Jeongin decided to answer. "Those are daylight rings. They are the only thing that prevents us from burning to a crisp when walking outside in the sun" he explained with conflicted eyes when I could only wonder how I didn't knew about that before. It's not as if it was a minor thing that they would literally burn to ashes when they didn't wear them.

"But it's getting darker already, so you can just get them back at night" I stated, looking outside to see the sky already coated in an orange hue.

"They're not gonna make it that easy for us. He wants you to get them and probably won't budge till you show up," Chan countered in a stressed tone, not knowing what to do. Hyunjin and Minho could move around at day freely but these three couldn't anymore, meaning that I would have to face them once again. This time without any help.

The only one who could know about it was Thalia and I didn't wanted to drag her into this. Taking her with me would be a rather dumb move considering her not being any more powerful than I am, and how could we even win against two vampires if they would try to attack. We couldn't.

"We can't let you go alone" Jisung said as the other two agreed. It really was not a good idea to go on my own, that for sure, I did value my life after all.

But there was no one else who could help me.

Or maybe there was...

Even the last track drags you
down into the dirt

I stood in front of the two heavy doors of yet another mansion when I looked back at the fancy garden that was decorated with professionally cut bushes and a fountain in the middle. It was the house of the mayor of our town but it was not him but his son who I was looking for when ringing the doorbell.

I often went here when I was smaller, already being familiar with the surroundings when then the door was opened and I was met with the one I was here for; Changbin, standing in front of me with a hoodie and sweatpants on.

"Nova? What are you doing here?" He asked for that it was a bit ago since I last paid him a visit — especially one without telling him beforehand.

"I'm sorry to just come over without saying anything, but I really need your help" I said, hoping he wouldn't get mad at me for just showing up when I needed something. I hated it myself when old friends of mine had suddenly came back and acted all friendly just because they could get something out of it, but I wouldn't do it at that moment if it wasn't necessary.

Hyunjin and Minho had already caused a lot of chaos and killed more than just a few people. With the only three other vampires in town being practically captured inside, no one else would be able to get them to stop.

"come if first, it's getting cold outside" Changbin said when I entered the house, following him to his room when he told me to stay quiet so his parents wouldn't wake up who had been going to sleep rather early. Once we entered the room that was probably the only space in this neat household that was actually a bit messy, the male mentioned me to sit down on his bed when he sat besides me, raising a brow and waiting for me to explain my sudden need of help. "So? Where can I help?"

I slightly smiled when he was ready to even listen to me, although not really knowing how to start when I pondered for a while before getting to the oh fuck this all point and just being my bold self.

"I know what you are"

"You— what are you talking about?"

"I know that you are a werewolf" I revealed when he looked at me a bit taken back. That surely came sudden, especially when he was able to hide that secret for probably years without anyone noticing just to hear someone randomly coming up to you and saying that.

"Why— I mean, how—" he was at a loss for words, so I decided it would be better to just continue explaining my point to not get caught up too much.

"That doesn't matter right now. I haven't told anyone and I'm not planning to, so don't worry about that, but you are literally the only person that can help me right now," I continued when Changbin seemed to get it together again and nodded, signaling me to tell him more, "you surely know about the animal attacks that happened lately and are probably well aware that they were not really caused by, well... animals"

"Yeah, I kinda figured that" he muttered and I just nodded.

"Right, so, I know who's responsible for that"

I would like to be full of faith
