Chan's POV

The denim coated sky barely provided any light of the usually bright shining stars and the moon that were now all covered by thick layers of clouds this cold night. A gentle breeze hit my skin and leafs swayed down to the wet ground from the tree that hovered over me.

It was silent, till a rusting not far away caught my attention. Finally he came. I was getting impatient.

Hyunjin stood under the dim light of the street lamps, his hands in his pockets, shoulders relaxed and a plain look resting on his face.

There was not a single word spoken for a moment when yet another presence seemed to join us, placing us in a triangle when my gaze shifted between the blonde, rather young looking vampire and the brown haired adult who's eyes reflected the color of freshly spread blood.

I had hoped to never cross paths with this man ever again — and yet here I was, facing the original vampire with my head raised high and the will to stay standing more present than ever before. Arthur was his name, that far I knew, despite there not being much more information provided about the older.

All I knew was that he was dangerous and that under all circumstances, he could not get his hands on Nova. I would make sure of that.

"What are the odds of me running into you two peasants again like this?" Arthur hummed, tilting his head when his gaze shifter between me and Hyunjin.

"I'm pretty sure you could have avoided us so far if you really wanted to" the latter chimed in, a knowing smirk on his lips, what only got the older vampire to narrow his eyes.

"Don't try to be to cocky, you know exactly why I am facing you two," he spat, his mood visibly shifting into one I would prefer him not to experience in my presence when on the other hand Hyunjin appeared amused by it, "you have the witch under your control and I can just kindly ask you to take a step back and not fool with me"

I eyed the blonde, remembering what Nova had told us not too long ago. He knew what he was doing but I could not tell why he did all that. If his sole reason would be to entertain himself, it would be even surprising me. No, he must have another reason.

There was a small part of me that whispered the answer I was looking for but I ignored that voice, knowing that that couldn't be it. Although maybe...

"How about you just let things be and leave" the younger suggested with a playful tone lacing his voice. Arthur was not exactly in agreement with that though when he was already at the male's throat, lifting Hyunjin from the ground and staring at him with a venomous glare.

"I was kind enough to give you the chance to obey me, but don't test your limits. I will get what I want and you are not a match for me in the slightest" he snapped, leaving me with a lump in the throat at his words when his form already vanished as soon as it appeared and no trace was left of the vampire.

Hyunjin dropped back on his feet, cursing under his breath when he rubbed the bruised skin on his neck.

"Do you want Ophelia to stay sealed away so bad?" I questioned, raising an eyebrow as I could not believe it to be true anyways, having the hope that it may be his goal and only that.

The blonde stared back at me, his amused expression long having left his features when he scoffed.

"Congratulations for figuring me out — of course it is, what else is there for me to fight for?" He sarcastically sneered, probably triggered by Arthur when I pursed my lips at his words, taking in a breath before finally letting that little whisper from deep down get to the surface.

"I don't know, maybe it's because of Nova"

He stared at me motionless. His eyes empty and brows still furrowed. Then he scoffed yet again. "Nova? I have nothing to do with her, so don't try to interpret things" he said, his hands back in his pockets before turning around and walking off, just like that, not allowing another word to be said.

He better meant what he said.
