CHAPTER SEVENTY-EIGHT

A week had passed by so fast; they didn’t know what hit them when it was time to leave. The day after they arrived, it was go go go from then on. Rosalie and Edward brought them to a friend of theirs who guided them through one of the very famous museums in the city known as the NationalRomanMuseum. After that, they dined at one of Rosalie’s favourite restaurants’ called L’Archeologia. The inside was warm and welcoming giving off a friendly but professional vibe. Unfortunately, it was a hotspot for many vampires. The place was full of them but Edward assured her that he was well respected amongst his kind and whoever his friends were would come to no harm. When it came to ordering, Santana felt uneasy to try something different on the menu. However, on the first bite, she fell in love with the food.

The very next day, they went to the Colosseum, which was Santana’s favourite part of sight seeing. Over the whole week, they went to museums, parks, bars, and many restaurants. There was so much to see and they missed a couple famous destinations as there wasn’t much time. They continued to travel around the city, day after day, and saw a somewhat different culture than their own.

It was heartbreaking, having to pack and get ready the night before, while Rosalie hovered over them like a mother sending her children off to college. The worst part of it was? They’d just met each other the week before and Santana wouldn’t ever see her aunt and uncle again unless she came back. She wouldn’t mind doing so, Rome was a marvellous place. It came to be like a second home to her.  Just the thought that Rosalie and Edward were so far away, left her heart aching. It was a bond that they built over the week, tightening until it would never break.

Santana carried her luggage down the stairs, refusing the butler’s assistance. She didn’t like someone thinking she couldn’t do something herself. She was a werewolf; of course she could carry a twenty-pound suitcase and a small carry-on bag.

“Are you sure you can’t stay for another week or two? I know Elle said this is the only time she could do it, but…” Rosalie stared at them with tears in her eyes as they stood by the front door, waiting for the chauffeur.

“We have to go, auntie. I can’t leave my mate the way he is any longer,” Santana sighed as she flung her arms around her aunt’s waist. It was an awkward position, considering her aunt was almost 6’0” and she 5’4”. Being short wasn’t something she liked, much to her dismay, Rosalie bent down so Santana’s arms went around her back instead of in the awkward position.

“Okay sweetie, I wish you luck in everything you do. And when you get that mate of yours back to his normal self, take a trip back here. We’d love to meet him!” Rosalie patted Santana on the back before pecking on each cheek gently.

“Thank you. Yes, I’ll bring him,” Santana smiled lightly; worried that Elle might not be able to bring Nova back to his normal self.

Nesta cried like a baby when she and Rosalie hugged but when she turned to Edward all hell broke loose. She swore under her breath as Derek held her back from tackling down Rosalie’s mate.

“Nesta, you know it’s not healthy to hate one man so much, and a man who treats me so well. Why can’t you just let it go?!” Rosalie cried.

“He’s the reason you were banished from the pack! I can’t see how you could just leave your whole family for this bloodsucker!” Nesta yelled.

Santana thought it was about time to intervene. Plopping her luggage on the floor, she stepped forwards. Grabbing Nesta’s shoulder, she swerved her around roughly.

“You know, Nesta, they are true mates. Imagine if your whole pack turned against you just because they didn’t like your mate? Would you leave them for him?” Not waiting for a reply she continued her speech “Of course you would! It just so happened that the fates made Edward a vampire for a reason and it was to be Rosalie’s mate. If he didn’t get turned into a vampire, then they never would have met due to him being dead in the ground!” Santana breathed out. She had forgot to take a breath while talking so fast so her lungs filled with the oxygen that they had been denied for a minute.
