CHAPTER FIVE

Santana woke up in her bed. She had no clue how she got there, and it took her awhile to figure how she did. Was that a dream? It had to be! Why would paid killers be sent to kill me? She laughed out loud.

It happened all right, and you can thank that male wolf for it.

The voice!

What the hell? So it wasn’t a dream? The pain and fear came back again, causing her to shake. Her clothes she noticed had blood on them. Those men! All the blood and stench of death; the bile rose in her throat. She ran to the bathroom and relieved herself of its contents. Ugh! She sat on the floor near the toilet. After changing her clothes, she stared at the bloody ones. It was late at night. Everyone should be home soon. She needed human contact. But then the thought came to her. Can I trust them?

Santana shook her head saying “No!” over and over again.

“It can’t be. My own family members wouldn’t do that. Never!”

She stopped her ranting for a moment and spoke to the voice.

*Okay. First of all, who the hell are you? And don’t be sprouting lies now or not talking back to me. I know you can hear me!*

It’s hard to explain without you freaking out…You’ll think you’re insane.

*What? Is there some alien chip in my brain?* she said sarcastically.

No…Not as freaky as that, but yeah it’s high on that outrageous to believe level.

*What?*

No answer.

*Are you really going to play this game now?*

Do you promise me you won’t laugh in my face?

Santana snorted.

*Face my ass, I can’t even see you!*

I’m…I’m your wolf.

Santana pondered over that comment. Wolf? Her mouth started twitching, and she couldn’t help but laugh. My wolf? After laughing until her stomach ached she asked the voice:

*Okay. So let’s say I believe you. What does being ‘my wolf’ mean then?*

Just means what I said.

*I’m confused. Why wolf?*

The voice let out a long sigh.

This is really annoying. I thought you were smarter than that. Seriously, doesn’t this explain many things?

*You think it’s annoying? I’ve had to listen to you blabber away and you just speak riddles!*

I’m going to lose my patience here! Okay, you have strange coloured eyes, heightened senses…I don’t think it’s possible for a normal human being to be able to have those abilities. You can smell a person from a mile away, hear whispered conversations from afar. Haven’t you always wondered who you really are? Why you feel like you don’t belong?
