The time finally came, Ant, Dec and Stephen had to film for the little bits on BGMT. Neither of them was exactly looking forward to it, but they also both knew they had to 'Man up' so to say and do it, before they had to film 'to tell the truth' Quiz show for BGMT's version of Ant vs Dec.
Stephen was in his dressing room, waiting to go up to the studio to film, he was so nervous about having to act 'normal' around Ant, he didn't know if he could do it, he knew it was going to hurt, but he also knew he would have to do it!
Ant was sitting in his and Dec's dressing room, just scrolling through twitter, trying so hard to distract himself from Stephen. He knew that they would both be uncomfortable whilst filming, and he didn't want that, but as Stephen said, he wasn't ready to be 'best buddies' yet and he understood, they didn't exactly finish on great terms so to say, they didn't talk much about anything after the breakup, they didn't see each other either, they didn't try and fix things before they went downwards or before it got so awkward between each other that they couldn't be friends.
eventually both men were called up to the studio, once they got there, the 3 of them said hi to everyone and then went straight to their positions, ready for filming. Waiting till they heard "go" and they started filming.
"Time to play...To tell the truth!" Stephen said, excitedly, ready to play the game. As the theme tune started playing Ant, Dec and Stephen started dancing around, looking silly and laughing. "Right then, let's do it!" Stephen said smiling, as he walked back to his spot. He was trying so hard not to look at Ant, at all, because he knew if he did the smile would fade and everyone who was watching would notice and then twitter would fill with stuff saying, 'what's wrong with Stephen' or 'Stephen looked so sad on BGMT' and he couldn't deal with that stuff right now.
Stephen started explaining the game to the boys "Here's how it works; you're going to meet three guests, who will all claim to be the same person" he started as he looked over to the boys, he tried so hard not to look at Ant, but he couldn't help himself, he tried to focus on Dec or the wall behind them, he just tried to look at anything other than Ant, but it didn't work. "But only one of them, is telling the truth!" He finished trying to put on a smile that would be believable, but he wasn't sure he was doing such a good job. "The other two are imposters!" he said, emphasising the word 'imposters' as the 'dun dun Duh' music played over it, as he looked back and forth two different cameras on beat. He looked over to Ant and Dec who both looked confused as he heard the producer in his ear say 'go over and do that again, but with Ant and Dec' as Stephen heard him, he felt his stomach go into knots, nervous about standing right next to the man and just being reminded of all the times he was near him before they broke up. He took in a deep breath and said, "You weren't ready for that?" as Dec nodded "Let's do it together" he finished as he made his way over to the boys. Ant could also feel his stomach go into knots as well, as Stephen got closer and closer, trying to act as normal as possible he put his arms around each of the boys and repeated "the other two..." he said as Ant and Dec joined in "are imposters!" as the three boys switch between the cameras on beat "super work!" Stephen said as he made his way back to his spot again. "I preferred it when it was crappy" the younger Geordie man started "It's a bit to professional for my liking!" He finished trying to lighten the atmosphere, that he could feel going tense whilst Stephen walked back to his spot.
"Right before we play, fingers on buzzers" Stephen said getting ready to ask the embarrassing question about one of the boys "Which one of you, has never told the other, that they didn't stop them from eating a dog treat muffin" Stephen said with a cheeky smirk on his face, Dec turned to look at Ant confused, and slightly pissed off, as Ant started laughing, he buzzed in. "Remember the other week when we went back to mine after watching Newcastle playing" Ant started, as Stephen was giggling Dec replied with "Yes" Ant continued "and we'd had a few beers" Dec agreed again, this time turning fully to face Ant, only making Ant start laughing again, making Stephen almost burst out in laughter "and there were little muffins on the cooler rack..." Dec laughed nervously "Yeah, they were nice" Ant laughed even more, as Stephen was standing away fanning himself with the cards in his hands "They were cakes for the dog..." Ant finished feeling a bit guilty but still laughing as his face turned red. Stephen was still laughing in the corner as Dec looked over, Stephen said "Yum, yum, yummy!" in a teasing tone.
As the recording went on, both Stephen and Ant, started to feel a bit more...normal, they both felt a bit less awkward around each other. It still hurt Ant seeing Stephen smiling right now, even if he knew he was faking it, not because he didn't want him to be happy, he did, more because he didn't want him to be happy without Ant, he didn't want him to move on so fast, again even if he knew, deep down, that he wasn't moving on as fast as his brain was telling him he was.
After they finished filming Dec started to make his way back to his and Ant's dressing room, before leaving he asked Ant if he was coming but Ant just shook his head, Dec knew why he wasn't coming, because he kept looking over at Stephen with love in his eyes...with regret in his eyes. Dec knew deep down Ant never wanted to break up with Stephen, he just wanted Stephen to understand how Mason was making Ant feel, how Stephen treated his worries and insecurities about Mason, how it actually made him feel... but it came out all wrong, instead of showing Stephen what he did wrong, how what he did made him feel, he ended it. He ran away, took the easy way out, instead of fixing it, he just...ended it before it got ugly.
Dec nodded to Ant as he made his way out and back to his dressing room, Ant walked slowly over to where Stephen was standing, in his head hoping he could sort things out with him...hoping they could go back to how they were, and he doesn't mean back as 'best buddies' he means, back together...he knew that probably wasn't going to happen but he couldn't help it, he wanted the younger man back, his brain was telling him to 'get over it leave Stephen alone, just move on, he doesn't want you back' but Ant couldn't give up on them. Like Dec pointed out earlier Ant's never been happier than when he was with Stephen, so he wasn't going to give up on them like he did the day they broke up! He was going to try and win him back, at any cost! Hopefully he could do it, that's all he wanted, he wanted to apologies and move on, he knew it wasn't going to be that easy, but he had to at least try...right?
