Ant had his weekly therapy session today, and because of how busy work had been he had missed the last session, so he hasn't been since he came out, and he's needed this session, he needed to rant to someone about this whole situation, but someone who wasn't Dec or Stephen, but someone he trusted almost as much as he trusted Dec and Stephen.
He was getting ready this morning for his session, he was in their bedroom looking through his closet for an outfit, when Stephen came strolling in. "Hey!" Stephen said, as Ant looked away from the bunch of clothes hanging in his wardrobe "Hi" Ant said smiling. Stephen walked into the room and sat down on the bed, just scrolling through his phone, Ant started to get changed, when he realised he was running a bit late.
"Hey Stevie?" He shouted out from the bottom of the stairs. "Yeah?" Stephen shouted back, still looking at his phone "have you seen my black jacket?" He asked looking through the jackets on the coat rack by the door. "I'm pretty sure it's in the kitchen!" Stephen said, clearly guessing. Ant nodded to himself, thinking 'why would it be in the kitchen?' He made his way into the kitchen looking around when he noticed his jacket on the counter, near the corner of the room.
He was just about to shout up to Stephen that he was leaving, when the younger man came strolling downstairs. "Nice timing, I was just about to leave" Ant said huffing out a laugh "have fun" Stephen said, as Ant gave him a peck on the lips, and left for his session.
*TIME SKIP*
He just pulled up outside the building he had his session In, he got out of his car and went up to Dr Greens office. He knocked the door and walked in. "Alright Doctor" Ant said as he walked into the room. "Hey Ant!" Dr Green replied smiling.
Its been just over a year since Ant started therapy, and he can't lie it has been helpful, he hasn't had a flashback or a nightmare in 8 months, thats not saying the accident still doesn't affect him, it's not that easy but if it weren't for therapy then he would still be having flashbacks and nightmares, and he'd still be flinching when someone touched him, and if he didn't get help then he and Stephen definitely wouldn't be together at this point, they definitely would've made it this far, the strain on their relationship, all the stuff that would be going through Ant's head, it would've been to much for both of them.
"How have you been recently Ant?" The doctor asked. Ant knew this question would be asked and he usually has an answer each week but this week... he doesn't. It has been pretty good to be fair, Stephen asked him to move in and he said yes, Ant's moving his stuff in next week, he met a fan who said that she was proud of him and Stephen. But, he's got a bad feeling Stephen's holding back on him, that there's something he isn't telling Ant and he's not sure what it is that he's not telling Ant, but after being with him for over a year, Ant's learnt to read the younger man, so he knows when somethings wrong, but he just can't figure it out right now.
"It's been an interesting, to say the least" Is the response Ant gave, he wasn't 100% sure how to explain it, how he was feeling right now.
"Interesting? What do you mean?" Dr Green asked as Ant picked up the glass of water next to him and took a swig.
"I don't know, I mean, a lot of good things have happened this week" Ant explained, he really wasn't sure how he felt right now. "Like what?" Dr Green asked curiously, giving a calming smile to Ant. "Well, Stephen asked me to move in with him" Ant has become a lot calmer and a lot better with speaking about Stephen during these sessions, he's really grown to trust the Doctor. "I'm moving my stuff in next week" He said smiling at the thought of moving in with Stephen. "But?" The doctor could notice there was something Ant wasn't saying and Ant knew that she knew.
"But... I can't help but feel there's something that Stephen's not saying, like he's hiding something" Ant explained further, he hated that he thought this because he liked thinking that he and Stephen tell each other, pretty much, everything. Obviously there are things they don't tell each other for what ever reason but this felt weird, thinking that Stephen was hiding something from Ant.
"Well, the only way you'll know if there is something he's hiding, is if you ask him" Ant knew she was right, the only way he'd know what's wrong is if he asked the younger man.
"Other than Stephen, how are you doing?" Dr Green asked, emphasising 'you' and Ant let out a sigh, and smiled slightly "You know what? I'm actually really good, I mean me and Stephen are taking the next step, and I couldn't be more excited for the future" Ant said, he quickly realised something, something big. "Wow" Dr Green looked at Ant confused hoping to get more of a response "Well... I've never really been the type of guy who looks towards the future in a relationship" Ant explained as the Dr asked "Well, what's different in this relationship than any of your past relationships?" Ant smiled as he realised the only main difference from this relationship to any of his past ones "Stephen" was his only response, as the doctor looked at him with a smile "Every other relationship I've been in has been with a girl. I guess before Stephen I never really saw a future with anyone else" The smile on Ant's face grew bigger and bigger as he talked about Stephen "He's made my life 10x better"
Ant continued to talk about what ever he needed to talk about, he explained his lack of nightmares and panic attacks, he explained everything, and it was so good to talk to someone about it, who wasn't Dec or Stephen. As much as he loved the both of them, sometimes talking to someone about his problems who wasn't his boyfriend or his best mate was quite...
refreshing!
