"Wait, so that's what he said? After all the fun you guys had together, he just dropped you?" Chen asked, causing my frown to deepen. Together, we dried our hair in the locker rooms, after taking showers. Practice had just finished and it was time to head to family dinner at the club. I spent the entire day sucky and depressed. Now, I was known as the girl who slept with two guys at the same time and tried to get with another guy while having a boyfriend.
"Apparently, he still thinks Akio and I are still together. I tried explaining but he didn't want to hear anything. Once again, something good was ruined in my life," I said, my lips forming a line.
"Someone is spreading rumors about you—,"
Just then, Kendall and her friends walked past us, giggles escaping their mouths. I followed them with my gaze, watching as they continued to mock me. As my anger increased, my grip around my shampoo tightened and I found myself walking towards them.
"Hey," Chem said, grabbing my arm and stopping my movements. "Coach Mowry's office is just outside. You don't want to make her disappointed, do you?"
She was right. Mowry's office was right outside the locker rooms which meant that if anything happened, she would be here in a second.
"She's already disappointed in me. No matter what I do, she always finds a way to bring me down," I said, running my hands through my damp hair.
"She's the type of coach where you have to earn her respect. She's worked with all of us last summer for training but she doesn't know you. Make her know you and what you can do," She assured, sending me an assuring smile.
"Now, come on. We have dinner to catch,"
After getting ready, we made our way to the AAC where we placed our bags down and joined family dinner. Mrs. Nguyen instantly welcomed us, showing us all the plates full of different foods from different Asian countries.
"So as I was saying people spend money on bullshit things they don't need. Why not spend money on stocks? Invest now, while you still can," Anish explained to the rest of the club. Chem sat next to him and I sat next to her. We both began to dish our food. and my mouth watered at the sight.
"He can go on and on about this stuff," Chen said, earning a laugh from Hana and Anong. Suddenly the door opened and inside walked the one person I didn't plan on seeing.
"There he is!" Mrs. Nguyen cheered, standing up from her seat and gesturing for him to come to the table. Instantly, I began chewing on my bottom lip.
"This is Landon Saelim," She said, his eyes scanning the room until they found mine. He walked over me and pulled out the chair next to me.
