CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE
THE RULES OF LORENZO
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK- A few days later -
"Nice, Raquel! I'm liking that mile time," Coach Mowry nodded as I finished running. I smiled exhaustedly, placing my hands on my knees.
"Alright, we're gonna get some practice on the courts! Let's get on with it!" Coach Hodson said, gathering the girls. I make my way to Kendall and Chen. A smile appears on my face as I pulled them into a group hug earning a giggle from Chen and a groan from Kendall.
"What is the reason for this?"
"I just love you guys so much,"
The day had gone by rather quickly and before I knew it, it was 6 pm. Smiling to myself, I made my way away from the tennis courts. In the parking lot behind the nearby Starbucks, I see Lorenzo, wearing his sunglasses while leaning against his car. He was smoking a cigarette, looking relaxed as ever. When he saw me, he instantly straightened his back, throwing the cigarette to the ground.
"There you are," He said, opening his car door. I thanked him and entered before he closed the door. He made his way to the driver's side, and finally, when we were alone, I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him.
A few hours later, I'm sitting at the kitchen island while Lorenzo is cooking something in front of me. Finals are in one week and unlike Lorenzo who doesn't care, I intend to pass all of them. But that didn't mean I wasn't growing frustrated with all my work. This was the busiest time of the year and before I knew it, I began to cry. All my classes either wanted a final, or a paper. It was all just too much.
I've gotten used to staying at his penthouse. He helped me move all my stuff and helped me settle down. One thing about Lorenzo is that he's incredibly needy. I accidentally took a nap on the couch after studying and he refused to allow me to sleep there. He carried me over his shoulder up to his bedroom where he placed me on his bed. Even though I would never admit it, I was very much wide away when he did this.
A sigh escaped my lips as I ran my hands through my hair. Lorenzo noticed my discomfort and sat down next to me. "Butterfly, what's wrong?"
I wiped away my tears and shrugged. "Nothing,"
He said nothing, pushing the computer towards him while scrolling through all my assignments. Shortly after, he looked toward me again. "Let's get started,"
"What about your cooking?"
"That can wait. I don't want my girl to cry," He said, using his thumb to wipe away my tears. I nodded, mumbling how lucky I was to have him while wrapping my arms around him. He smiled, soon placing a kiss on my forehead.
