A few days into her stay in Thòrin's Halls, Rurìn had found herself constantly at the hip with Dìs. It was an odd feeling, to have a sister... to have a sibling really. The Elves were so much different than dwarves. Elladan and Elrohir were her brothers of the heart and they would always be as such just as Elrond will always be her father of the heart and Glorfindel her soul brother. But her actual kin, her blood... it was a whole other feeling entirely. Dìs was a marvel, an experience that Rurìn wouldn't trade for the world. The Dam was very much a lot older than she but she had an aura around her that made her so young in the heart. She was practically mothering Rurìn at this point while all being an encouraging sister. For the very first time, Rurìn felt like she found her place in this very big world. Fìli and Kìli were enjoying the momentarily break from having to put up with their Amad's nagging and nitpicking. Though they did not leave Rurìn's side much either. They had an irak' namad. It was just as much of an experience for them as it was for her to have two sister-sons.
27 years old, she was so much younger than them but due to her human blood, she was almost of age, something Kìli hated. Come spring, she would be considered fully grown, and it was only a few months away. Fìli on the other hand found it strange to be a few years older than her. It was not common to have an Irak' namad other than their sister-son. In fact, it was not common at all for a Dwarrow to have a dwarfling out of wedlock or with multiple women. The fact that Thraìn had a child after running from his duties when he was supposed to have been driven mad was a shock to all of them. Only he and his Amad were worried about how Thòrin would take this news, his brother didn't think it was worth the worrying which proved his childish nature.
"Alright! My beautiful Aunt!" Kìli slammed open her chamber doors with a bow and a quiver swung around his back, donning his best riding clothes. "Up you get! Got to catch the axe before it drops!"
Rurìn snapped hazily awake from her blanket pile, blinking at the young dwarf in confusion. "Itsss not even sunrise!" She groaned.
Fìli came in behind him and closed the door shushing his brother and whacking him in the head. "Shut up before you wake Amad! She's a light sleeper!"
Rurìn squinted at Fìli. "Are we at this point in our relationship that you two are perfectly fine with me in sheer clothing?"
The boys blushed deeply. Now if Rurìn was fully awake and her mind was working properly she might have just stopped there. Timid, and quiet she may be when her mind was constantly making her second guess herself... She was not shy nor filtered when weighed down by brain fog due to being very tired.
"Because... I mean... I got to be honest here guys... I don't sleep clothed."
Kìli and Fìli blanched and whipped around so fast they ran smack face into each other, slamming their noses; busting them in a haste to high tail it from her room. They were spluttering insults and curses to their young eyes even heard once the door had been closed from down the hall. She rolled over on her belly and began to giggle wildly, fixing her nightgown from where it rode up while she slept.
Serves them right for waking her before the sun has risen. She didn't do that with the elf twins, she didn't do it with Glorfindel or Lindir, and she was most certainly not doing it for her sister-sons. She snuggled back down in her blankets and went back to sleep for another few hours.
When she next woke up, the sun was shining and she had bathed, got dressed in her riding gear, and grabbed her bow and quiver as well as a few spuns of good old elven rope that Arwen had sent her for a gift from her grandmother's forest. The slight strings were hardy for snares, they would not break easily and that's what made them so good for hunting. Besides hunting at night, and making a camp out of it to do it in the morning was a lot more fun than leaving before the rooster even roosted to rush in haste to set traps.
