Most of the long-term Caravans returned for the winter and to restock their stores for the spring. Fíli and Kíli were still not back from their journey with their Caravan and probably would not be until after Durín's day it would seem. Rurín had her knees pulled up to her chest, her hair free of braids and freshly washed and hanging loose around her so it would dry. She was waiting for Dwalín to come over and rebraid her hair and put in her courting braid.

She missed Fíli and Kíli... They would have loved to be here for this monumental moment. Well, at least when they get home they would be in for a surprise. Probably also a little sad about losing their freshly earn coin to Toví, Gimlí, Bifur, and Bofur. All of them were dimwitted if they thought she had no idea about the betting pool they put on her decision about the courting bead. She knew hadn't seen it, yet. But she was aware that Dwalín had made it for her while in Mithlorn.

He told her she was in charge, she was to take the lead in their courtship. He told her when she was ready, so was he. Well... She was ready. She wasn't just thinking with her loins much to Dorí's light chastizing last night...

She was still blushing over that.

'Now, lass... All I am saying. You ought to be sure. Don't be thinking with your loins after a heated kiss like that. Think with your heart.'

Prim and Proper Dorí actually gave her a talking-to! He was taking his brotherly duties very seriously. As he said, she was a heart sister to his siblings, she was a heart sister to him as well. And he was going to be taking his duties completely with dedication.

Orí was still asleep beside her pillow over her face and her feet exposed from under her blanket. She was snoring softly. Rurín smiled. She would be 73 tomorrow. A Durín's day bairn.

Dorí had been extremely busy the last two days baking and fulfilling orders. She would offer to take care of Orí's birthday cake to help ease his load. It was the least she could do for him since she was staying here.

Truthfully she missed baking and cooking. She hadn't been able to do either one of them since arriving here a year ago. Nobody would let her and she felt like she was in everyone's way in the kitchen in the main hall. Even the royal wing, didn't have a miniature kitchen for her to use. If they did, she would always use it.

She huffed softly with her forehead on her knees before getting out of bed and pulling her nightgown off to get dressed for the day.

Dark red linen over apron dress, dark grey quarter sleeve tunic, the healer's colors. So she would stand out and let everyone know she was available. Oín had told her it was the colors all the Healers in Erebor would wear and it wasn't until recently that they could do the healer dress shades here in the Blue Mountains. She might have written to Lindir about making an order for elvish clothing in those colors.

He did not disappoint!

Teragorn had been the one to personally deliver four large packages much to her delight two months after writing about the request. She thought today was the day to break out the new garbs!

She was happy to know the apron dress only ties at the side and had been intended to wear over trousers. She wiggled and jumped into a pair of black form-fitting trousers before putting on her elvish make supple boots.

She was also kind of glad the elves who made her clothes had taken care of not making them so elvish look but if anyone said anything about her Athelas or primrose embroidery she was going to whack them with her short staff she started carrying around with her after she got back from the Grey Havens. Rurín felt safer with it and much-preferred carrying that and a few daggers versus her twin blades.
