Rurín,

It does my heart good to know you are doing well. Taking in a child is a huge responsibility and I am very proud of you. Estel can not wait to meet his Niece as are the twins and Glorfindel.

I do hope all goes well as planned beforehand. Glorfindel will meet you outside of the gates with your friends from the Rangers to accompany you on your journey to your second home.

It is with my sincere congratulations on your engagement to Lord Dwalín son of Fundín. I had foreseen your future with the dwarf and could not have wished for a better match for you, daughter of my heart. I await your arrival most impatiently.

Arwen sends her best as does Galadriel. They've sent your wedding gifts ahead of schedule as well as some for your daughter, Soldís.

Your loving Ada,

Elrond.

"Ooohhh another message from the tree shagger?" Gimlí asked.

"Gimlí!" Himlâ scolded.

"What!" Gimlí scoffed. "Pointy ear bastards--"

They fell into a screaming match into the dwarven tongue. Rurín watched them back a forth with Soldís scrunching her face up trying to decipher what was being said. As soon as the cursing broke out, Orí smacked her hands over Soldís ears.

"Itkitî!" Thorín bellowed. (Silence!) "We have all known Rurín is friendly with the elves! And as much as it pains me to say, Lord Elrond has been gracious to us. He helped mended my sister's mind and he sent us food for the winter. I will not hear of any slander to the Elves of Rivendell."

The room full of Dwarves, all looked at Thorín with shock. Rightfully so, he had as much reason to hate Elves as anyone. He had done his best to overlook his hatred for Ruríns sake at least where the Elves of Rivendell were concerned. Then when she needed healing that he could not provide for her, Elladan, Glorfindel, and Elrond brought her back to them. He would never forget that. He would never forget that they traveled with haste and showed their deepest loyalty and love for his sister who was half dwarf.

Elves loving a dwarrowdam. Elves loving his sister despite her race. Elves who without them, he would have never met his sister. Elves, who Rurín wrote to explain their dire situation despite how Thorín was angry she did so; sent aid to them.

Because of Lord Elrond, The Dwarves of his Halls would not go hungry during the winter. They sent several sacks of grain and dried fruit and preservatives of vegetables. They sent oats and legumes. They sent honey and extra healing erbes that would be needed for the inevitable sicknesses that would aile them from the cold.

And because he accepted them, only them, it was with great care that he discussed with Balín and Rurín making trading deals with the elves of Rivendell.

The winter was almost over, and by the first of Spring, He, and a company of Dwarves would be making a journey to sign a contract. Rurín of course would be joining them with Soldís and because they were coming, Dwalín was coming with Kafdân and logically Fíli and Kíli were coming as well as Orí and Bofur. Which meant Bifur was coming too... A company of ten dwarves and one child.

Never in Dwarven History did Thorín believe he would make an accordance with Elves again.

Rurín wrestled Soldís in a pair of loose-legged woolen trousers. They had to make sure her travel clothes fitted her properly and goodness was it hard! She wouldn't stop complaining.
