Chapter- 26 Backstory

Bakugo's mind was running a mile a minute as he considered the offer. While he wanted to know for purely selfish reasons, he knew it was wrong to dig into a piece of the woman he adored without her consent. Would it make him any better than Yasushi if he abused her trust like this?

But in order to protect her and fully understand her, he wanted to know. He had seen the signs and Ururaka's words confirmed it, so he already knew bits and pieces. Yet looking across the table at the firey man who clearly loved Lore, he knew he was missing something huge. 

"Endeavor," the retired pro nodded in acknowledgment, "if you were me, would you want to know?"

Endeavor smiled at him in a bit of a condescending way. "I married and bred a woman purely for her quirk potential. I do not feel I am the right one to ask on this matter."

"Fine. Pretend you're a decent fucking human being for two seconds. Would you want to know even though you're perfectly aware that it's a huge invasion of privacy," he growled. 

Without so much as a second thought, he replied, "Yes."

Bakugo scratched at his scalp angrily. "UGH! That makes this so much harder. Fuck it. It's going to eat my soul alive if I don't know. Just fucking tell me so that I can immediately regret it."

Endeavor's uncharacteristic laugh filled the room. He patted Bakugo, who was proud of himself for not snapping his teeth at his hand like a rabid dog, on the knee and said, "I am glad you are aware of the consequences." 

"Yeah yeah shut up and tell me the damn story."

The older man's beard slowly died away until he was the civil-looking retired hero once more. He combed his fingers through his red locks and sighed. "I would like it if you did not interrupt me throughout this story," Endeavor gave him a look before continuing, "but I know that is unlikely."

Bakugo just grunted.

"Yasushi Yamato approached Lorna in her first year at UA. He was a 3rd year-"

"There is the first fucking red flag! What type of 3rd year goes after a first year?"

Endeavor pursed his lips in annoyance. "Bakugo."

Whoops. He grunted in acknowledgment, and Endeavor rose a disapproving eyebrow. "Continue."

"Anyways," he bit out, "I did not approve of the boy, so Lorna kept it secret from me." 

Of course, she did, Bakugo internally groaned. 

"She and Yasushi saw each other for about 4 months before she attended a party off campus. I called numerous times throughout the evening because Fuyumi notified me that she had not come home after school. Thinking she was blowing off her responsibilities to the twins, I was naturally very angry at her because I thought she was going against our contract." Bakugo, despite not being the most empathetic person could feel the regret in his voice. 

"She always had her location on because she was an open and trusting girl. I tried to find her, but her phone was turned off." His voice hitched as he recanted, "Shoto was the first to find her. He still had friends at UA, so he found out about the party. By the time he arrived though she was already unconscious. Even with her quirk, she had to be rushed to immediate reconstructive surgery due to the severity of the damage."
